Total knee replacement is the best Arthritis Treatment

In a human body, the knee is the largest joint consisting of the lower end of the thighbone called the femur, the upper end of the shinbone or tibia, and the kneecap which is known as patella. The ends where they touch are covered with a smooth substance that protects the bones and enables them to move easily, which is called the articular cartilage. Large ligaments hold the femur and tibia together and are known to give stability, while the long thigh muscles are required for complete knee strength. Milk brings you a range of health benefits and it is easy to include in your meals and snacks. Possibly the best way of doing this is to have some low fat milk as part of your breakfast. You will get lots of antioxidants and B vitamins this way, as well as protein and calcium. If you combine the milk with breakfast cereals in the morning then you will be adding more vitamins and folic acid to your breakfast and getting the best possible start to the day. Folic acid is regarded as a form of mood stabilizer and the rest of the properties here form a fantastic combination which will help you stay calm and positive. Try it with some wholemeal bread or fruit at lunch time for a healthy meal which will fill you up as well.

Avocados

Avocados are commonly listed as a super food due to the number of excellent properties which they contain. They have a lot of monounsaturated fats and potassium in them and because of this they are great at helping reduce blood pressure. HOW TO BREASTFEEDING NEW BORN

Breast feeding is very essential for your newborn baby to become healthy. Because babies can loss their birth weight in first few weeks. New parents are feel uncomfortable to feed their baby with their breast but don't be like, it will lead your baby into unhealthy and also cause many problems to mother. I hope this will help to know about how to breastfeed a newborn, how often and how long need to feed your baby.

Minimum 8 times and maximum 12 times in a day you have to feed your baby. Take 2 to 3 hours gap between every feeding it is for day time, At night you have to feed your baby for every 4 hours. When you saw a sign hungry with your baby like hand into mouth, you can start your feeding no need to wait until the going into cry. Some babies are sleepy they won't cry so you have to wake up your baby and then give milk. Leave your baby for long time with your breast after that you can feed your baby into another side. Frequent feeding will also increase your milk supply then you can give enough milk to your baby.

Sit comfortable at the time of breast feeding, fit a baby into your breast and latch nipple in a correct position on your baby mouth. And then put your hand on babies back shoulder for support. Your baby mouth needs to cover your whole areola not only the nipple of your breast. Feed at least 20 to 45 minutes or continue until your baby stop feeding. Some babies are need to feed at both breast and some babies are satisfied after feeding with one breast, at that time you have to feed in another breast at next time of feeding. At the time of breast feeding every mom's hold their child at different position like cradle hold, cross cradle hold, clutch and side laying position. The position is whatever it may be but the only thing is it should be comfortable for you and your baby. After finishing feeding remove your breast as gently from your baby mouth.

After your delivery your body will contain some special milk it is good for your baby health, so you can feed your baby in a delivery room itself. New mom feels uncomfortable but it is a learning skill you have to practice for that. And one more thing new moms need more energy for frequent feeding. So they need to take more meals and healthy snacks between them. With early born babies it is hard to baby as well as mother that time they have to take more nutrient foods for their baby growth and also for mother health. Please be aware with this, and don't feel shy to breastfeed it is about your baby healthy. Learn the hungry sign of your baby and give enough milk to him/her because the breast milk can easily digested. Like that learn that when to wake up and how close to your baby.

Cost of Staying Healthy on the Rise

The federal government's approval of a 5.6% increase in health premiums has fuelled controversy and debate and is set to put households under more financial pressure in the coming year. The increase, dubbed by the Health Minister as "modest", translates into a $1.70 increase per week for a single person and $3.70 more for a family. Health Minister Tanya Plibersek says that, by comparison, the increase for consumers is significantly lower than the 9.3% increase being shouldered by insurance companies. The increase is slightly higher than last year's 5.06% hike and will be implemented from April.

The Spokesperson for the Coalition, Peter Dutton, says that this increase, coupled with increases in other government policies, is putting family budgets under immense strain. He says this latest news might be taking the pressure off the government, in terms of comparisons to previous years' performances, but for the average household the news is anything but pleasing.

In defence, the federal government says the health insurance premium increases that have taken place under the current government are lower than those of the previous government. Plibersek claims that during Tony Abbott's tenure as Health Minister the average increase was 6.5%, while one year saw an increase of 8%. She says the government is aware of the increasing cost of living and has encouraged people to compare health insurance memberships to see if they can secure a better deal. She says she expects health insurance memberships to stay strong, with memberships at their highest levels of all time.

Despite the Health Minister's optimism the 30% private health insurance rebate has undergone means testing since July and parliament is currently deliberating dropping subsidies for Lifetime Health Cover loading, applicable to those who do not take out private cover by the time the financial year that they turn 31 in comes around. She encouraged shopping around for competitive rates as policies vary by as much as $200 per policy across different providers.

The Coalition's spokesperson said also that the Labour government's changes had yet to be experienced fully because so many Australians had tried to beat the increases by prepaying their premiums. The Chief Executive Officer of Consumers Health Forum of Australia also agreed that people should renew their cover to see if there was a chance of getting better value.

One in seven people who have private health insurance could be looking at a 27% premium increase in July, if the intended government rebate changes go through. An industry lobby group says that nearly 1.1 million members will be affected by changes to Lifetime Health Cover and for some people the difference amounts to as much as $500.

Along with the annual premium increase of more than 5% the removal of the rebate will see some premiums go up by a third this year. The industry lobby group claims these two events will see people either terminating or downgrading their cover, and putting more pressure on the public hospital system.

Last month a story was carried that claimed the government would be investigating the number of people downgrading their policies and also how easy it is for people to switch policies over if they find a better deal.

In his midyear review the Treasury's Wayne Swan alleged the changes to the rebate system would enable a saving of $1.1 billion (when the Treasurer was still pursuing his budget surplus). But the government has already benefitt4d from the LHC because it has prompted more young people to take out private cover, earlier on in life and offsetting against higher claim costs from older members. The government says the financial impact of dropping the rebate will make a difference of $116 per annum.

Five Reasons You Should Get Vaccinated

From the dawn of time, the human population has periodically been decimated by outbreaks of serious disease. In the 1600s, bubonic plague was rife across Europe and millions perished from the disease. The influenza virus has also been a deadly killer over the centuries and even today, people still die from the more serious strains of the flu. But thankfully for mankind, many of the most serious diseases such as yellow fever, typhoid and diphtheria have been all but eradicated as a result of widespread vaccination programmes.

Why Bother With Vaccinations?

Even though serious diseases such as measles and mumps have mostly been vanquished in modern society, they haven't disappeared completely, which is why vaccination programmes are just as vital today as they were a few decades ago. Without protection from vaccinations, you and your family are at risk of serious disease or even death.

Vaccinations Are Safe

Millions of people are vaccinated every year and even though there are inevitably a small number of people who experience bad reactions to the vaccine, vaccinations are considered to be very safe. All vaccines have been rigorously tested and are among the safest types of medicine available today. You could opt out of a vaccination program, but the risk of suffering any side effects from the vaccine is far smaller than your risk of catching a serious disease.

Vaccines Offer Protection to the Vulnerable

All vaccine preventable diseases are serious. If a healthy adult catches a deadly strain of the influenza virus, they are likely to become extremely ill, but if a vulnerable person with a weakened immune system, a child or someone elderly catches the flu, they are far more likely to die as a result of the disease. Vaccinations offer protection to those most at risk of complications or death from serious diseases, so why die needlessly for the sake of a simple injection?

Vaccines Protect Your Family

When the main breadwinner of a family becomes seriously ill from an entirely preventable disease, it puts their family at risk. An ill person cannot work and if the disease causes life changing complications, the end result can be devastating. You might not think you are at risk of catching a disease such as tuberculosis, but these diseases are still out there and people who shun vaccinations are at risk of infection.

Preventable Disease is a Drain on Society

Treating serious diseases such as influenza, typhoid and cholera costs the economy billions every year. The direct medical costs alone are staggering, but when you take into account the indirect costs of preventable diseases such as influenza, which can cause a reasonably healthy person to be off work for up to two weeks, it is not difficult to see just how important vaccination programmes are in modern society.

Children and Vaccinations

There have been many scare stories surrounding childhood vaccinations and many parents have avoided having their child vaccinated. As a result of a lower take-up of some children's vaccination programmes, certain diseases such as measles and mumps have been making an unwanted return. Vaccine preventable childhood diseases can cause long-term and devastating health problems in children, but thanks to effective childhood vaccination programmes, horrible illness such as polio and whooping cough have all but disappeared. However, if parents decide to boycott vaccination programmes for fear of side effects, it won't be long before such diseases start to reappear once again.

Holiday Vaccinations Are Also Important

For most people heading off on their holidays, thoughts of serious illness and disease are the last thing on their mind, but holiday vaccinations are just as important as any other form of immunisation. Diseases such as hepatitis, yellow fever and diphtheria are rife in some parts of the world and if you become infected, you could end up taking home more than a sun tan.

  • If travel or spend a lot of time in the car you should definitely invest in a car kit
  • If you are out and about doing fieldwork or outdoor activities, a bumbag might be the best kind of kit for you
  • Specialised hiking kits are also available
  • Your kit should comprise of a series of basic items like gauze, adhesive tape, eyewash, sterile wipes and gloves as well as a selection of specialised items like burn treatments, depending on the kind of work you do
  • You should update your kit every two to three years

The Benefits of Memory Care

For many people dealing with Alzheimer's or Dementia, the gradual loss of memory can not only be worrisome, but can be downright dangerous. While families try to help loved ones stay as independent as possible, there often comes a time when those suffering with memory loss need more help than loved ones can provide. If you've been trying to decide if assisted living is the right choice for your family, here are five benefits to professional memory care that may help you make your decision:

1.Meals

It's not unusual for those with memory issues to forget to feed themselves. Even if a loved one ensures that the kitchen is stocked, some patients simply forget to eat. On the other hand, some patients forget that they have already eaten, and eat again; often consuming double or triple necessary calories. In either case, eating issues can lead to weight loss or gain, illness and, in the case of weight gain, mobility issues. An assisted living facility will make sure that your loved one is eating three, nutritionally-sound meals each day.

2.Housekeeping

It's an unfortunate occurrence when those with memory care issues live in filth and clutter. Accumulation of dust and dirt can exacerbate respiratory illnesses, and clutter can cause trips and falls. Assisted living facilities have housekeepers on staff that will ensure your loved one's living environment is kept neat and clean. Not only will your loved one's room be kept clean, but their laundry will be washed as well. Having a clean living environment will greatly reduce the risk of illness or injury to your family member.

3.Personal Hygiene

People with memory care issues often neglect their personal hygiene, simply because it doesn't cross their mind to shower. When your loved one moved into an assisted living facility, his or her personal hygiene will never be forgotten. Your family member will receive help with incontinence issues, toileting and bathing. Proper hygiene is essential in maintaining healthy skin, an important part of the overall health of your loved one.

4.Transportation

It can be difficult for even the most dedicated family members to transport a loved one back and forth to scheduled appointments. When your loved one moves into an assisted living facility, he or she will be safely transported to every necessary medical appointment that takes place off-site. Additionally, residents are often transported to field trips of sorts, or scheduled outings designed to keep residents active and involved. In fact, seniors in assisted living facilities are often more active than those who continue to live on their own.

5.Family Support

Caregivers often forget about themselves and their own health when looking after a loved one with memory issues. When your family member moves into an assisted living facility, he or she won't be the only one getting support. Assisted living facilities provide both support and education for family members of residents. If you have questions or need help adjusting, the professional staff will be there for you.

It can be a difficult decision to move your loved one into an assisted living facility. You must ask yourself if your family member, and your family, will benefit more by continued home care or by the transition to assisted living. There's nothing to feel guilty about when considering an assisted living facility for your loved one; the benefits far outweigh any discomfort you're feeling.

Indonesian Food Health Benefits

There are many beautiful aspects of Asian culture we admire and knowingly or unknowingly emulate working with them on a daily basis. There are those among the countries of Asia which are more popular than others in the west for various reasons. Sadly Indonesia is one of those that gets easily overlooked when it comes to the local culture. Most people see and think of either China, Japan, Korea and Thailand when they think of the term "Asian", however Indonesia can offer a unique and varied culture spread across over six thousand islands. Their art, martial arts such as Silat and history of piracy and naval warfare created a world where nothing is boring or mundane even to the most travel-savvy visitor. Their food is a unique and diverse combination of flavors because of the fact that the islands developed their own versions of common recipes among other things and with the abundance of seafood it also has some very nice health benefits.

The local food has many influences both from mainland Asia and the west because of its lucrative position in respect to naval trade through the centuries. A lot of the spices present in many recipes in the west have been intertwined with the local culture precisely because of that trade such as cloves and nutmeg. One of the most beautiful and healthy aspects of the local food is exactly these spices - they contain much needed protein and minerals the human body uses and on top of that they have the added bonus of tasting great.

Something else the local food uses a lot is rice and that is in abundance - the health benefits here are well-known: it stabilizes the blood sugar levels, it has plenty of vitamins B1 and D as well as many minerals, it is rich in carbohydrates, cholesterol-free and capable of helping out with many diseases by just being part of your daily diet. You can find rice in a lot of the local dishes such as nasi uduk (coconut-milk cooked rice), lontong (banana-leaf steamed rice) and of course nasi goreng which is essentially fried rice. Nasi goreng is considered the national dish of Indonesia and it combines seafood, vegetables and rice in a tasty dish.

There are a lot of fruits containing high quantities of starch in the local diet such as yams, potatoes, cassava, sweet potatoes, taro, breadfruit and jackfruit. These are truly staple foods and because of their prevalence in Indonesian cuisine the local population has a chance to eat healthy. Sadly a lot of the local population has begun emulating the western lifestyle switching from their traditional diets to fast-food restaurants and a sedentary lifestyle which we all know can lead to serious health issues.

There are some truly amazing dishes out there which also have local vegetables. Kangkung is a leaf vegetable which is known for its blood sugar lowering effects. It is used in many recipes in the local cuisine. Other examples include melinjo with its wonderful antioxidant properties. Genjer (not to be mistaken for a corruption of the word ginger) is a plant often used in combination with other plants in curry, soup and salads among other things.

Overall Indonesian food bears similarities to a lot of the mainland Asian cuisine but with its own twist. Thanks to the way the recipes are prepared this makes it healthy and good for consumption on a regular basis. As with all things however this should be taken in moderation as overeating is one of the main reasons for obesity.

Asthma Relief at Home

When it comes to asthma inhalators are a must have for anyone suffering its effects, however there are ways to avoid some of what this condition deals to the human body. While asthma care centers exist and they are very good at what they do the bulk part of the asthma relief is usually done in domestic conditions since our lives need to go on as seamlessly as possible. You will need to find ways to avoid stress as well as knowing how to deal with the onset and asthma triggers which lead to attacks since this is a condition which so far requires a lot of care. We have prepared some tips with which we hope to alleviate your situation:

1. Peak Flow Meters

When it comes to asthma these are cheap and useful devices used to measure the exhaled air through your lungs. It is a simple construction which allows you to measure the peak expiratory flow also known as PEF. This small device allows you to have a relatively accurate understanding of the condition of your asthma and whether its worsening or getting better by measuring and monitoring your PEF.

2. Developing a plan

When it comes to asthma you should be aware that special care is needed which will help you prevent and manage your asthma attacks. You should speak to your doctor or health care provider regardless of what country you live in for ways your condition can be alleviated. You will need to provide them with as much personal information as you can to allow your doctors a better chance to understand what is causing your asthma attacks.

3. Keep track

There is a reason for that since it will allow you understand and keep a record of when the attacks occur. You should record the initial time when the attack starts and you should measure your PEF as well as other details which will allow you to collect this data for an accurate understanding and information which your doctor will be able to use to deduce ways to find solutions.

4. Controlling possible asthma triggers

This is a crucial step when it comes to attacks since knowing what onsets the attack will help you prevent it in the future. Most often it is stress and this can help, though sometimes the reasons for an attack are certain allergens of which you will need to be aware so you can treat the problem effectively.

5. Air filtration

This can be very useful in cases of allergens being the prime reason for asthma attacks. They are relatively cheap and they offer a good way of keeping most of these out of the air around your home. There are multiple technologies out there currently being used for air filtration from small, stationary units to larger ones which offer better quality of air. You should consider those if you know the reason for your asthma attacks are airborne allergens such as pollen and other substances.

What to Teach Your Kids When it Comes to Exercise

With millions of obese people in the United States and this number growing each year, it is more important than ever to teach children how to exercise properly and make working out a consistent part of their daily lives.

Teach Through Actions

If it is important to you, it will be important to your kids. Children mimic their parents, so teaching through action is the best way to show your kids how to live. Regular exercise is not only healthy for you but for your child as they begin to learn how and why they should exercise. Involve your kids when you are working out and as you train them, explain why exercise is so important. This is one of the greatest gifts you can give your kids.

Start Out Slow

If you are heavy into weight lifting and working out, keep in mind that children are still growing and developing. There are certain exercises that kids should avoid at varying ages. The younger you start training your kids to workout, the more likely they are to always exercise. Begin slowly, even though you may want to jump right into YOUR routine, your children's muscles are not developed as yours are. Try walking/jogging short distances, some easy yoga and biking to begin with.

Do Everything in Moderation

Teach your kids that everything should be done in moderation, even exercise. Never use phrases like "I'm so fat" or "I wish I were thin!", kids remember everything and when they hear you say these things, it stays with them. Use positive comments such as "I'm doing much better this week than the last" or "I feel great when I exercise".

Don't Give Up

If you don't meet your goals one week, there is always the next! Show your children that just because you don't attain your goals this time, doesn't mean it won't happen. The only way it won't happen is if you give up. Teach your kids to stick with exercising and this will apply to other things in their lives.

Your actions will dictate what your children do in life. Make each lesson count when it comes to exercise and it will carry over into other areas.

Acid Reflux Cause Natural Remedies

Acid reflux, also called heartburn or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), happens when stomach acid rises into the esophagus due to a weakened esophageal sphincter, according to doctors at the Jackson Siegelbaum Gastroenterology clinic. Chest discomfort, a burning sensation in your upper stomach or lower throat and occasionally a bad taste in your mouth characterize the disease. If you're tired of buying a new pack of antacids every day, perhaps a diet change can do the trick.

Complex Carbs
Eat breads and grains that are low in fat and high in complex carbohydrates, recommends Jackson Siegelbaum Gastroenterology. Try to avoid heavily processed breads that are high in fat and low in nutrition. Writers at Health Castle recommend eating multiple small meals every day instead of large meals since a large meal on your stomach requires additional stomach acids. Make sure you eat plenty of rice, pasta and breads. These help ensure that the acids in your stomach have complex foods to break down.

Vegetables/Fruits
Avoid processed fruits and vegetables or foods that have a high citric acid content, according to Jackson Siegelbaum Gastroenterology. Its doctors recommend eating apples, bananas and other fresh fruit. Apples are high in complex carbohydrates, and researchers at HealthCave.com say that they contain chemicals that help strengthen the sphincter muscle that causes acid reflux. Bananas are natural antacids, according to the website. Another helpful tip is to take 2 tsp. apple cider vinegar with lukewarm water daily. Researchers at HealthCave.com say the solution helps prevent acid buildup.

Dairy Products
Milk, cheese and other dairy products are naturally high in calcium, a natural inhibitor of stomach acid, according to HealthCave.com. Jackson Siegelbaum Gastroenterology notes that you should choose skim or other low-fat dairy products because foods that contain high fat content will remain in your stomach for a longer period than low-fat foods. You should also avoid eating at fast food chains, since many of the products found in fast food restaurants are high in fat content.

How to Lose Weight Exercising for 30 Minutes a Day

How to Lose Weight and Look Glowing by Exercising for 30 Minutes a Day

Most of us work around a daily schedule that is so time-constrained you barely have enough time to come up for air. If you're not dashing to the office you're hunched in front of your PC; if you're not at your desk you're rushing to pick the kids or a bag of groceries. So really, even that half an hour we commit to getting into shape is quite a sacrifice. But if we're not careful, that 30 minute timeslot could end up entirely wasted with us either maintaining our body weight or even regressing without knowing it. The only way to benefit from a training session at the gym or elsewhere is to ensure that more calories are burnt than have been ingested. If this is not happening then we may well channel those precious minutes into something else. So check your exercise regime; ask yourself if your routine is helping you burn enough calories to make a difference on your waistline. Ask yourself...

Should I change my walking routine?

If you've been faithfully walking for half an hour every day for a while now and are not seeing any changes on the weighing scale, maybe it's time you tweaked your motions. Up the intensity by incorporating more pronounced arm movement, increasing your tempo or elongating your stride. It's easy to lull yourself into a comfortable pace when walking; the key is to apply your mind and keep your body tight. Ensure that you feel the strain in your calves and hamstrings as you walk. If you want to feel it a bit more in your upper body, you could incorporate light weights. Interspersing your walk with lunges will help you put additional strain on your leg muscles, helping you burn more within that 30 minute window than you did before.

Try circuit training or interval training

Incorporating any one of these modes of working out is guaranteed to lift you out of your weight loss plateau and increase your gains significantly. Here is an example of how you can work interval training into your limited exercise time. Start off with a light jog or brisk walk for five minutes. Once you're warmed up, launch into a set of 50-100 jumping jacks or jump rope for about 5 minutes. Ease off into a light jog as you catch your breath then do another set of jumping jacks. Alternate in this manner until your half an hour is up. To really work your body and maximize calorie burn, you can mix these cardiovascular exercises with strength training routines in what is known as circuit training. Using the above template, you could throw in a few sets of push-ups and sit-ups. Research has shown that increased muscle mass leads to a higher metabolic rate which results in more lost calories.

Try weight training

Since your time is highly constrained and going out of your way to a gym might not be feasible, consider buying a few dumbbells and using them to do some light weight training. With these you can develop a simple daily routine that hits all major muscle groups in your body. You can do a few sets of bicep curls, a couple of shoulder press sets and some sets of squats or lunges early in the morning before you shower and begin your day.
