Miss Canada Universe Transgendered Candidate is Out of the Competition

The transgendered Miss Universe Candidate Jenna Talackova is officially out of the competition. The following is a press release by the pageant:

TORONTO, ON (March 23, 2012) – Jenna Talackova from Vancouver, British Columbia will not compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada competition because she did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form. We do, however, respect her goals, determination and wish her the best.

The 61st annual Miss Universe Canada Pageant will be held at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts (Bluma Appel Theatre) in Toronto. Sixty-five delegates from across Canada will be in Toronto from May 11th to May 20th and will compete for the title of Miss Universe Canada 2012, awarded on Saturday, May 19th, 2012. The reigning Miss Universe Canada, Chelsae Durocher will assist in crowning her successor before a live audience.
