On January 11, 2011, Oklahoma executed Jeffrey David Matthews for the1994 murder of his 77-year-old great-uncle, Otis Earl Short, who was shot to death during a robbery of his home.  Matthews' co-defendant admitted guilt and received a life sentence.  Matthews maintained his innocence until his death.  This is the second execution of 2011, both of which occurred in Oklahoma.
