Roman Colosseum lit to protest an execution |
On January 25, 2011, Georgia executed
Emmanuel Hammond for the1988 murder of Atlanta preschool teacher, Julie Love. There were two co-defendants. One was given immunity in exchange for testifying against Hammond and was not prosecuted. The other was sentenced to life after pleading guilty. Substantial allegations that Hammond's trial lawyer was incompetent and the prosecution committed misconduct were rejected. This is the fourth execution of 2011.
