The Oil-Cleansing Method

I am always looking for ways to eliminate toxic, unnecessary chemicals from my life and using natural beauty products is one of the easiest ways to do this. I'm super excited to share the oil-cleansing method with you because I am convinced it's going to change your life the way it has changed mine. And, it will also save you a ton of money and give you better looking skin in the process!

If you haven't heard of the oil-cleansing method before, it's definitely time you did.  The oil-cleansing method involves washing your face with, well, you guessed it: oil.  Most facial cleansers brag about being "oil-free" and the beauty industry has certainly taught us that "oil-free" make-up and cleansers is the way to go.

Here's the problem though: when our skin is striped of its natural oils, it produces more oil to compensate.  For those with oily skin, this means more breakouts, blackheads, and aggravated skin.  For those with dry skin or sensitive skin, it means the skin is going to get even drier and irritated.

Here's a basic chemistry lesson: like dissolves like.  Hence, oil dissolves oil. The oil-cleansing method is using oil to naturally dissolve the dirty oils on our skin without stripping it or using harsh chemicals. Genius, right?  Not only is it super simple, affordable, and better for your skin, but here is my favorite part: the oil-cleansing method is the best make-up remover I've ever found.  It removes mascara, eyeliner, foundation, everything -- all in one step!  If that's not enough to make you jump for joy, then I just don't know what is.

The key to the oil-cleansing method is castor oil which comes from the castor bean.  Castor oil is a great antibacterial and is the best for cleaning skin.  Depending on your skin-type, you will want to use a different ratio of castor oil to other oils.  Other oils to use include olive (which is perfect for all skin types), jojoba (all skin types), avocado (best for drier skin), and almond oil (best for oily skin). Experiment and see what works best for you.

I have dry skin and have had great results with using a mix of castor oil, olive oil, and avocado oil. I usually mix 2 cups extra-virgin olive oil, 1 cup avocado oil, and 1 cup castor oil in a a glass jar and keep this in my bathroom for easy access. (I would definitely recommend keeping oil for cooking and oil for skincare separate.)

I recommend mixing a small batch and then you can adjust your oil ratio as needed.  Once you discover what works best for your skin type, then you can make a larger batch. I've been using this for over a year now and I've noticed that it's made my dry skin significantly less dry and I've gone from using lotion several times a day to simply once in the morning. This is a huge change for me!

Here's how it works...

Method:

Once you've made your oil mixture, rub a small amount onto DRY skin (as it won't mix well with water), adding more as needed, and massage it around your face for about a minute.

Remember: there's no need to wash or remove make-up before applying the oil. (If you wear makeup, rubbing the oil onto your skin might make a gooey mess, but it gets better in the next step.) If you wear mascara and eye makeup, rub a small amount onto your lids gently to remove any makeup, just as you would use a makeup remover.

The next step is to steam the skin to help remove impurities from your pores. Grab a clean wash cloth and run it under warm/hot water.  Wring it out and place it over your face for about a minute.  Then use the washcloth to wipe away any oil that's left. And that's it!

You only need to do the oil-cleansing method once a day (preferably at night before bed) and then you can splash your face with water in the morning.  It's so simple!

Have you tried the oil-cleansing method before?  What oils work best for your skin?

Citrus & Coconut Body Scrub

I am excited for spring. Every year around this time I start stalking the sunrise and sunset timetables online to see exactly how much light we are gaining each day. As of this week, we are gaining about 3.5 minutes of daylight every day and I couldn't be happier.

I won't miss the extreme cold and dark days of winter, but I will miss the comforting soups and winter citrus. Oh how I'll miss the citrus.

Since winter's not over just yet there is still plenty of time to zest an orange and rub it all over your body with a little sugar and coconut oil. Let me tell you, this scrub is pure bliss and it's making the last days of winter go by even quicker.

I used a blood orange for my scrub, this this also works great with clementines, tangerines, grapefruit, or lemons. Since you will be rubbing the zest on your skin, I would definitely recommend choosing an organic fruit.

This scrub will leave your skin silky-soft and is perfect for sloughing away any dry, flaky winter skin. The citrus and coconut oil smells delicious and is a wonderful pick-me-up first thing in the morning. The hardest part is not eating it!

Citrus and Coconut Body Scrub
Makes 1/2 cup (about enough for 2 - 3 showers)

Supplies needed:
zester
small container to store any leftover scrub

Ingredients:
1/3 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons (organic) orange zest

Instructions:
Melt coconut oil (if necessary) until it reaches a liquid state.
Mix oil, sugar, and zest together.
Scrub over body.
Store any leftovers in the fridge and use within one week.

How To Deal With Skin Irritations

Your skin can be a sensitive area of your body, and there are plenty of things that could cause it to become irritated. For example, touching a poisonous plant could cause a rash, eating a food you’re allergic to could cause hives and even using the wrong type of soap could dry out your skin.

Instead of succumbing to the skin irritation that ails you, it’s important to know the most common skin irritations and how to successfully deal with them.

skin irritations

Eczema

If you have a severely dry patch of skin, it is eczema. Eczema is not contagious and tends to form on the feet, hands, elbows and knees, and these flare ups tend to come and go. Most cases of eczema flare up due to stress, allergens and climate changes, and the best way to treat eczema is through the use of topical creams.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a non-contagious skin disease that affects many people. Dry patches of skin form on the body and become dark red or even silver and tend to look like scales. Psoriasis can be mild to severe, and even with treatment, those that suffer from psoriasis tend to suffer from the disease for their entire life.

If you have psoriasis, your doctor will most likely prescribe medications that you apply directly to the skin as well as an oral medication or injection.

Shingles

Shingles is a contagious and painful skin irritation that affects many people. It generally starts with tingling or burning skin and is followed by small red dots that eventually turn into painful blisters.

Shingles can be easily treated with the use of steroids, antiviral medications and topical creams, and they will generally go away within two weeks, however the tingling feeling may last for the rest of your life. If you think that you may have shingles, it’s important to visit your doctor right away.

Hives

Most people get hives after eating or touching something that they’re allergic to. Hives look like giant red welts on the body and often itch or burn. Hives can be small in size or they can combine with other hives to make larger patches.

In order to cure hives, you will want to visit your doctor for a medicated cream or prescribed antihistamine to alleviate the itch and rash. You will also want to avoid eating or touching whatever it was that might have caused the hives in the first place to keep it from happening again.

Rosacea

If you notice that your face tends to become flushed and stays that way for a significant period of time, you probably suffer from rosacea. Rosacea tends to form around the eyes, cheeks and nose and can often lead to pimples, thick skin and visible blood vessels. Rosacea can be caused by extreme heat or stress, and while flare-ups may go away on his or her own, the only true treatment for rosacea involves dermabrasion and laser therapy.

Steven Peters is a health specialist from Boston.  He often shares information about skin irritations and how to cure them via blogging.

L’Oréal Paris Magic BB Cream Review

L’Oréal Paris Magic BB Cream - 4 Beautifying Actions in 1:  Hydrates, Primes, Perfects, Corrects.

I had the opportunity to try Magic BB Cream made by  L’Oréal Paris.  I received a full sized sample of the BB Cream in Medium 814. This was my first experience using a BB Cream and I was pleasantly surprised. By nature, I am a skeptic when it comes to product claims.  It's one of the reasons that makes product reviews fun for me.  I love when my skepticism is silenced.  This product works.  I like the effect.  The product dispenses as an ultra light lotion which is white in color and has barely visible "beatifying beads". After application the product adjusts to your coloration.

I like that the end result it is a light finish because for day to day use I prefer not to look (or feel) overly made up.  The bare skin finish is perfect.  If I could change anything about the product I would only request MORE hydrating properties.  Since I am  41 years old young, my skin now requires a touch more moisturization than what this product offered to me.

I will likely purchase this product in the future.  I did scope out 2 of my local retailers just to make sure that I can get more should the need arise.  I didn't stock up because I am on a self imposed spending hiatus until after Easter.

Do you use BB cream? I'd love to know what's in your makeup bag!

Found! Available at Walgreen's $11.49

Found! Available at Target $7.99

I'd like to share a few words from L’Oréal Paris about their product:

L'Oréal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream: This product gives the sheer coverage needed to create a natural bare skin finish, while delivering built-in skincare benefits. With four beautifying actions, this all-in-one innovation primes and smoothes, perfects to hide flaws, hydrates all-day, and corrects and evens skin. The product is infused with skincare ingredients like Panthenol, Vitamin E and Glycerin for 24-hour moisturization.

To apply, simply dot on and blend with fingertips. Self-adjusting beads will instantly transform and blend to your skin tone.

L'Oréal Paris Magic BB Cream retails for $10.95 for 1 fl oz. It is available in four shades and is sold at mass food and drug retailers nationwide.

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by L'Oréal Paris.  I received a complimentary full sized sample to facilitate my review.  All opinions are my own.

How to Make Your Lips Bigger

Luscious lips have always been the trademark of the most popular movies sex symbols, associated with the term "kissable lips". For a number of reasons, lip augmentation has became a popular cosmetic procedure over time.

Make Your Lips Bigger

It Started in the 1980s

In the 1980s, new techniques and fillers caused the boom lasting until the present. Women of all ages and races sought fuller, plumper lips to improve their appearance and reduce fine wrinkles around the mouth. Sensual lips are not limited to females so it is not strange that some men undergo this procedure, although with different approach in lips' shape and size.

Types of Lip Augmentation

The most common filler is collagen, which must be injected by a certified surgeon. Due to the simple procedure, it is usual that some beauty parlors and clinics offer lip augmentation without meeting the requirements of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) or the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS).

Even when a sensual look is the most wanting result for lip augmentation, aging is another reason to undergo this procedure. Facial muscle movement, sun exposure and effects of gravity change the size and shape of lips through the years, hence injectable fillers may be used alone or around a facelift or resurfacing procedure.

There are several natural or synthetic biocompatible materials for lip augmentation. Collagen is a popular filler, but surgeons prefer the patients own fat or an implant for long-lasting results, since most injections improve the appearance of lips temporarily, requiring periodic refills. Implants are made of similar materials but inserted into the lips through microscopic incisions.

AlloDerm is the usual implant chosen by surgeons and patients alike, consisting of a natural collagen sheet made from donated skin. Other implants are often questioned due to its nature, particularly those made from skin of deceased people. Other synthetic materials also produce longer results, such as soft ePTFE, SoftForm and Gore-Tex.

Injectables

For Lip augmentation there is a number of injectable materials to choose from: autologen, dermalogen, fascia, hylaform, radiance, and restylane, which is a crystal-clear gel very close to that naturally found in the body. Prominent, well defined lips produce a youthful, healthy look, and the procedure that can be complemented with filling full, high cheeks.

Collagen popularity comes from the easy application, but this is the filler with the shorter result, requiring a new injection every 9 to 12 weeks, with the risk of scarring effects after too many applications. In addition, some people may have allergic reactions to collagen, other fillers, or lidocaine, the local anesthetic applied for lip augmentation.

Lasers

In some cases, surgeons can recommend another technique: laser lip rejuvenation. This procedure allows the surgeon to tighten natural elastic tissue and collagen beneath the patient's lips. However, all injectable cosmetic procedures bring temporary results, as materials are metabolized by the body with the passing of time.

After lip augmentation, people can resume their normal activity immediately, and only a few individuals experience mild bruising, swelling, or redness around the lips.

Simply Gluten-Free Magazine and DIY Face Masks

Hey gluten-free folks,

I wanted to do a quick shout-out about an awesome new magazine, Simply Gluten Free Magazine, founded by Carol Kicinski of Simply Gluten-Free. You'll find amazing gluten-free recipes for meat-eaters, vegetarians, and vegan diets (created by my friend Ricki of Diet, Dessert, and Dogs), as well as great articles on gluten-free news, travel, health and wellness, and beauty.

You can find me in this month's beauty section (pg 76-77) whipping up some easy (and cheap) DIY beauty treatments! I wanted to give you a sneak peek of one of my favorite DIY Face Masks featured in this issue: a seasonal citrus, antioxidant skin-brightening mask. If your face is in need of a little pampering from the winter weather, look no further than this simple treatment using ingredients straight from your kitchen!

This mask combines kiwi with honey and lemon/orange juice to slough away dead skin cells, tighten pores, and reveal a brighter, smoother complexion. (And you thought kiwis were just for eating!)  This mask works for any skin type and you can even mix it with sugar to create a delightful scrub for your hands, neck, and chest. If you prefer to skip the honey, substitute 1 tablespoon of olive oil instead.

Antioxidant Skin-Brightening Mask
Makes about 4 masks

Ingredients:
1 medium ripe kiwi, peeled and pureed
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon fresh lemon or orange juice

Instructions:
Wash your face with warm water and pat dry with a towel. Mix pureed kiwis with honey and lemon or orange juice. Apply a thin layer to face using fingertips (avoiding the eyes and delicate eye area). Leave on until dry, then rinse well.  Moisturize as normal.

Store any leftover mask in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Mask will stay fresh for up to 5 days.

How to Wash Your Hair with Baking Soda & Vinegar

Awhile back I blogged about the baking soda and vinegar hair care method and I wanted to give an updated post about this. Baking soda and vinegar is an incredibly simple and easy way to clean your hair without shampoo. Since I am always on a mission to reduce my exposure to potentially harmful chemicals and simplify my beauty routine, it felt right to be using a natural, time-tested method to clean my hair.

Now, you might be asking, what's so bad about shampoo? Shampoos can contain a lot of harmful ingredients. I am by no means an expert on this, but in my research, I've repeatedly found the worst chemical-offenders to be:
  • Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate (used as a foaming agent in shampoo and is a possible carcinogen)
  • DEA/Diethanolamine (an emulsifying agent that can create carginogenic compounds when combined with other chemicals found in personal care products)
  • Parabens (used as preservatives to extend shelf life, but many of these chemicals have been linked to breast cancer)
  • Fragrance (the word "fragrance" on a label can mean the presence of over 4,000 separate chemical ingredients; scary!)
When I found out what was really in shampoo a year and a half ago, I vowed to stop using it and so I switched to the baking soda and vinegar method.  This worked really well for about four months. Then I fell off the baking soda wagon.

As my hair grew out and I got a bit lazier, I began resorting back to shampoo and trying to find natural brands that didn't contain the ingredients listed above. The funny thing is that I eventually found my way back to baking soda because it actually works better than shampoo!

A few months ago I began struggling with my shoulder-length hair being really limp and flat due to the Seattle weather. I tried to remedy this with mousse and styling products, which then caused build-up. To remedy that, I started incorporating a clarifying shampoo every few weeks, but this dried out my hair, so I added in an intensive conditioner that only made the lifeless hair problem worse. Plus, with the winter cold, my hair was getting really static-y. Urgh.

I was ready to chop it all off and go back to short hair when I remembered the baking soda and vinegar hair care method. Could this solve all my problems? Yes, and it did.

After being back on this method again for three months I can honestly tell you that I will never stop using it.  My hair now has more body, volume, and strength than it did with all the crazy shampooing, products, and special hair care nonsense that I was doing before. And now my routine is incredibly simple: wash with baking soda, rinse with vinegar, blow dry, and maybe flat iron the front strands if I feel like it. That's it.

Now that I've been using this method for awhile, I've found that my hair doesn't get as oily as it did before (shampoos strip our scalps of natural oils so this increases oil production to compensate) and I only have to use this method every 2 - 3 days.  The baking soda and vinegar method is cheap, effective, simple and chemical-free and I think you'll love it as much as I do.

(Note: I've slightly changed my method since my last post. Read on...)

Method:
It might be hard to adjust to the lack of shampoo foaming action at first, but I promise this is worth it in the end. Start by mixing 1 part baking soda with 3 parts water.  I was making a large batch of this and then keeping it in my shower, but I noticed it wasn't as effective as the individual batches I used to make. Then a reader (thanks Heather!) informed me that water activates baking soda and so now I am back to mixing individual batches in travel-sized squeeze bottles (pictured above). I have shoulder length hair and use about 2 - 3 tablespoon of baking soda with 3x that amount of water. You can adjust this depending on your hair length.

Baking Soda:
  • Apply the baking soda and water mixture to dry or wet hair by squeezing a little at the roots and working to the ends.
  • Repeat this process all over your head.
  • Let it sit for 1 - 3 minutes then rinse with warm water.
After washing and rinsing with the baking soda mixture, you'll want to apply a vinegar rinse. (I've found that white vinegar does not leave as strong of a smell compared to apple cider vinegar so that is what I use in my rinse.)  Mix 1 part white vinegar with 4 parts water. To minimize the vinegar smell, I also add lavender, peppermint, and/or rosemary essential oils to the vinegar mixture.  (In my last post I had more suggestions about how to customize your rinse fragrance.) I also mix a big batch of this ahead of time and keep it in a squeeze bottle in the shower.

Vinegar Rinse:
  • Tilt your head back, close your eyes (to avoid getting this mixture in your eyes), and distribute through your hair. If you have longer hair like I do, I like to then (still keeping my eyes closed) tilt my head forward and distribute more rinse through the ends.
  • After a few seconds, rinse with cold water.
One of the ways that I've changed my method is rinsing my hair with cold water after the vinegar rinse. The cold water helps to seal in moisture, smooth the hair, and add shine. I have straight hair and have noticed that this really made a difference with eliminating frizz and winter static.

Since my hair is longer than when I used to use this method, I first noticed the vinegar smell leftover in my hair much more. To remedy this, I simply add two drops of lavender essential oil to my hair brush and run it through my hair as I blow dry it. Works like a charm!

Have you tried the baking soda and vinegar method? Any tips that have worked well for you?

Simple Skincare for Great looking Skin

Caring for your skin can get a little tricky. First of all, you have to understand that your skin is different from other people so you need to find your own skin care regimen. You can start by determining your particular skin type. If you have the budget, it would be best to consult a specialist who can suggest the best skin care products for your particular case.

Great skin care doesn’t have to be costly. There are many good skin care products that are affordable. To start off, a gentle skin cleanser for your skin type can do wonders. Also don’t forget to moisturize since dry skin can lead to premature signs of skin aging like fine lines. Another product you need if you want to have great skin and prevent premature signs of skin aging is sunscreen.

Several studies indicate that damage from the sun is one of the leading causes of skin aging. This is why you need to use the appropriate sunscreen depending on how long you will be exposed to the sun. Remember that a healthy diet and drinking plenty of water can also help you have healthy and great-looking skin. Skin care doesn’t have to be complicated in order to be effective.

Following these simple tips can help you achieve and maintain beautiful and younger-looking skin.

Everything You Need To Know About Argon Oil in Beauty Products

Jason Reid writes for Edrugstore.MD where you can find out How to find an online pharmacy.

Read through the labels or ingredient list of any top beauty or skin product created in recent years, and there is a good chance that you will read the words argon oil. Many people might think that this ingredient is a new item, since it has only recently become such a popular beauty and skin product additive. However, argon oil has actually been used for centuries around the world. If you are curious about argon oil, read on to learn more about the benefits, risks and ways to incorporate it into your current skincare or haircare routine.

What is Argon Oil?

Argon oil is a rich natural product that is created using the seeds of a native tree from Morocco called Argania spinosa. It has been used throughout North Africa for centuries thanks to its essential fatty acids and antioxidants. Many users originally used it as a way to prevent infections on the skin, but it also has some anti-aging properties.

How are the Medical Uses of Argon Oil?

Medically, argon oil has countless uses. Many skin conditions can actually be treated just by using argon oil externally on a daily basis. Since 52 percent of American suffer from a skin condition like acne, psoriasis or eczema, argon oil has the potential to be used by millions of people each year. Traditionally, argon oil has also been ingested as part of a daily diet to treat medical conditions like high blood pressure, osteoarthritis and even diabetes. Medical experts agree that pure argon oil can do wonders since it contains such a large amount of healthy fats essential for the human body.

What are the Aesthetic Uses of Argon Oil?

Argon oil also has a number of beauty and skincare purposes, which is why it has become so popular in recent years. Argon oil can reduce split ends in hair and prevent scalp damage, making it a common addition to shampoos and conditioners. Argon oil can prevent visible signs of aging in the skin by firming up the elasticity of the face with fatty acids and antioxidants.

Are There Any Risks Involved With Using Argon Oil?

Although there are some companies that claim that there are risks involved with using argon oil externally, there are no medical or research studies to substantiate that fact. However, there are some concerns with consuming argon oil. Skincare expert Cathy Wong warns consumers that, "Ingesting products meant for external use that contain argon oil can be lethal." Although pure argon oil can be ingested for medical reasons, most argon oil in the United States is mixed with other ingredients that should not be eaten.

Who Should Use Argon Oil?

Anyone with split ends, skin disorders, brittle nails or visible signs of aging should consider using argon oil. However, it is recommended that you speak to a doctor or expert before ingesting argon oil for any reason. Although argon oil has been used in Morocco for centuries, it has only recently caught on in the United States. With so many beneficial properties, it should come as no surprise to find it in haircare, beauty and skincare products.

The Best Movie Jewellery of All Time

Film award ceremonies and premieres of late have inspired many jewellery designers to try their hand at replicating some of the most beautiful jewellery seen in the world's most famous films. From the elegant pieces of the classic black and white movies to the show-stopping sparkle of pieces in modern-day films, there is no doubt that some incredibly stunning jewellery items have graced cinema screens over the years. Provided below is a summary of five films featuring necklaces, rings and earrings that will stop you in your tracks.

Heart of the Ocean
One of the most famous necklaces in the film industry has to be the Heart of the Ocean, otherwise known as the glittering jewel necklace that formed a central part of the film, Titanic. Although there was initially some confusion about what the setting was, with many mistaking it for a blue diamond, the wardrobe department from the film later revealed that it was a blue cubic zirconium. The jeweller who created the necklace was asked to design another version of the same necklace. This new version featured diamonds worth several million pounds and a stunning 170-carat Sapphire jewel. The necklace was worn at the 1998 Academy Awards by the singer Celine Dion, whose song, My Heart Will Go On, was featured in the film.

Rubies of Pretty Woman
One of the best scenes in the film Pretty Woman is, without a shadow of a doubt, the one in which Edward gives Vivian a box and snaps it shut whilst Vivian bursts out laughing. The Diamond and Ruby necklace inside went beautifully with her now iconic white gloves and red gown. The piece is thought to be worth more than £200,000 and was created by one of the most famous jewellery shops in France, Fred Joaillier. The necklace was made from 18k white gold and was then encrusted with diamonds and rubies.

Monroe's Diamonds
The jewels worn by iconic beauty Marilyn Monroe whilst acting in the film, Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend, are still adored by all who watch this film today. Her collection of jewellery during the film was so large that it's almost impossible to choose just one piece; in one scene, where Marilyn wore the stunning hot pink dress, she was draped in diamond bracelets, rings, earrings and necklaces.

Carrie and the Black Diamond
Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City 2 wore an eye-catching 5-carat black diamond ring. Big, the love of Bradshaw's life, gives her the ring because he considers her to be unique, just like the diamond. Black diamonds became hugely popular after the film aired, much like the 'Carrie' letter necklace shot to fame during the television series.

Yellow Isadora Diamonds
Last, but certainly not least, is the Isadora necklace with an 84-carat yellow diamond, worn by Kate Hudson in the film, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. The real necklace is reportedly worth £3 million; however, even the replica used in the film was worth £8,000!

Urban Decay Turn To Animal Testing

Since its launch in 1998, Urban Beauty has been a brand that is 100 per cent ethical. This means the company uses vegetarian or vegan ingredients wherever possible and is opposed to animal testing.

The Urban Beauty brand famously refused to make fashion show appearances due to real fur being worn on the catwalk; indeed, Urban Beauty's animal testing policy states that it "will not allow third parties to test on animals on their behalf, except when it is required by law".

Each product on the company's website is clearly marked as being animal-friendly, with the packaging plainly displaying the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics' (CCIC) Leaping Bunny logo: the guarantee of a cruelty-free product.

Breaking into China
However, the company has recently decided to try to break into the cosmetics market in China, a country in which animal testing on cosmetic products is required by law. Within Europe, there are a number of laws that prohibit certain types of animal testing, giving animals more protection than in some other parts of the world, such as China.

Chinese law states that, before cosmetic products are licensed to go on sale to the public or to beauty suppliers for salons, they must be tested on animals. These laws apply not just to Chinese brands, but to any overseas countries that want to enter the Chinese market.

Recently, a number of former cruelty-free brands, namely Avon, MAC and Estee Lauder, have made a U-turn on their policies and given up their cruelty-free views in order to begin selling their products to the Chinese market. It seems that Urban Decay will be the latest brand to join this ever-growing list of companies. This doesn't necessarily mean that the products sold in the UK have been tested on animals, but by giving the Chinese permission to test on their behalf, the brands are effectively forfeiting their ethos on animal cruelty.

Urban Decay's Public Statement
Announcing its decision to sell cosmetic products in China, Urban Decay explained that it remains opposed to animal testing. According to the company, its position on the issue has not changed in sixteen years and, despite entering the Chinese market, the firm will continue to support "women's rights and the fight against animal testing". Urban Decay described the decision to enter China as a "thoughtful one".

Since the company's announcement back in June this year, it has incurred a backlash from some of its fans, many of whom are fervent animal lovers and even animal rights activists. Social media was used by many fans, with over a thousand comments being left on the company's Facebook page and a similarly huge reaction on Twitter.

Following Urban Decay's announcement and the reaction from its users, the company's Leaping Bunny Logo has been withdrawn by the CCIC. It remains to be seen whether Urban Decay will go ahead with its plans and indeed the effect that moving into China will have on its business across the world.

What To Do About Your Wrinkles

Actress Kristen Johnston says wrinkles are hot. Kristin Davis says smile lines are beautiful. For men, maybe, but for us ladies, definitely not!

Wrinkles are what many women struggle against daily. Makeup can cover lines and creases to a certain extent, but it's just not that effective unless it's been expertly applied and is long lasting. There are more effective solutions, brought to you by the cosmetic medical industry, but may sound a little odd to you. How about one of these?

Keep Your Skin Smooth With These Wrinkle Treatments:
1. A poison: When you get right down to it, BOTOX is a poison, but that's why it's so effective at treating wrinkles. Featuring botulinum toxin, it is injected into the muscle that is primarily responsible for making the wrinkle or crease in the overlying skin, relaxing it so that it doesn't contract as much. BOTOX is FDA approved as a wrinkle treatment for frown lines, crow's feet and forehead lines. BOTOX (as well as other products featuring botulinum toxin, like Dysport) is considered the top cosmetic medical treatment in North America according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. There were over 5.3 million procedures
performed in 2010. Looks like this poison's popular!

2. Snake or bee venom: With the popularity of BOTOX, cosmetic manufacturers are scrambling to find alternatives that work in the same way - which is how snake or and bee venom have become the products of choice for many celebs, including Victoria Beckham, Kate Middleton and Naomi Campbell. Call it a topical version of BOTOX, since they all come in cream/serum form.

3. Hyaluronic acid: Add a little more hyaluronic acid in your skin through an injectable filler, and you'll find your wrinkles smooth away. Hyaluronic acid binds to water, and more water in your skin means more suppleness and volume - which is how the wrinkles are smoothed out. You can even enhance your facial contours, making them more prominent.

Stacie Morris is a writer for Botox Ottawa. Stacie's primary concern? Wrinkles, of course! Her favourite treatment is a customized skincare regimen at home (which includes peptide-rich products) and Botox.

First, keep in mind that our bodies are designed to move. Many of us live a sedentary lifestyle and spend a lot of time working in front of a computer and sitting in front of a television. Adding just a small amount of movement to your fitness program right from the start can make some major changes. Using your lunch hour to go for a brisk 20 minute walk, taking a nightly bicycle ride, using the stairs instead of the elevator, or walking your dogs a little further every night are all simple and easy ways to get more movement in to your life. That’s right- no gym membership, no hours of sweating!

Fitness is one of those things that once you start doing it and feeling the benefits, you are going to fall in love with it. Many people are surprised to find out just how many changes happen when they add walking in to their daily schedule every day. When our bodies get the movement they need, all kinds of great things can start to happen.

You can add fitness to your life slowly and steadily to help avoid burnout and injury. Adding a short brisk walk to your evening routine is a great way to start. Once you feel good with that, begin adding a block or more to your distance each week. You can also choose to park further away from the doors at the store, use stairs instead of elevators, and make small healthy changes to your diet.

Bringing more fitness, strength, and weight loss into your life can be easy if you take it one step at a time and work with the body you have now to make positive changes for the future.

‘SEXING UP’ YOUR WEIGHT LOSS REGIME

If one knew that a regular romp in bed can help lose calories, who would not want to binge on food and add calories? And if you try it out, Rather more and more people try it, Perhaps gymnasiums around the globe will have to close shop!

In His book, "The Ultimate Sex Diet ', Kerry McCloskey's has stated that a 30 minute session of lovemaking burns 150 to 250calories, of course depending whether you are an active or a passive participant. Kissing and smooching is known to burn about 200 calories! Moreover, kissing tones the face and neck muscles. Women love kissing and smooching and do not need to exert in anyway. You do not need Medifast NutriSystem coupons and discounts to indulge in these activities.

A good sexercise not only tones your muscles, but also renders RADIANCE to your skin. When the great stuff you sweat, you certainly open pores unclogged and your skin glows.

'll EXCLAIM "OR" I DID NOT KNOW IT!

The huffing and panting that accompanies an orgasm raises the heartbeat to aerobic levels. A sexercise is more pleasurable than a mundane workout in a gym, for an orgasm releases oxytocin that promotes relaxation. Although women often complain of not getting enough of their partners to snuggle with after a romp, thanks to sleep that overcomes men, it is this kind of relaxed sleep that lessens stress. A single orgasm helps you burn almost 60 to 100 calories!

Good sex tones your abs, biceps, triceps, glutes, hamstrings and calves in men. In women, the thighs, buttocks and stomach shed fat. Moreover, the endorphins released are actually 'feel-good' hormones that energize you.

SOMETHING TO SMILE ABOUT

Men whose partners abhor oral sex, Should smile now, because I research has it that semen contains high levels of vitamin C and protein, Which prevents hunger!

The missionary position allows free thrusting by the man, Which is an exercise on the pelvic muscles. The woman has to exert equal pressure on her pelvic muscles. This tones the butt muscles.

A doggy style makes the female partner go on all fours, Which again acts as a toner to the tummy flab muscles.

The woman on top position makes her take charge. Here she does all the thrusting Which exercises her thighs, butt and hips. This again her belly fat tones too.

When a woman raises her legs to rest on her partner's shoulders, squeezes her legs get When she attains orgasm. This exercises the flab on calf muscles.

Tantric sex where a woman sits on the man's lap with her hips encircling His legs squeezes the thigh muscles. It is beneficial to the man too, as he too has to perform His act without free movement of His legs! That Gives some restrictions, at the same time a good workout too.

BE innovative

Another idea you can work out is to determine Which part of the body and toning needs' Perhaps indulge in a Certain positions that will help you lose flab from 'the' place.

There are many sexperiments to Choose from, with all of them guaranteeing a weight loss Haggard sans the worn-out look. Not only is great sex grand for the body, but for your mind as well!

As a health expert Joel Newman likes to look at extraordinary ways and means to lose weight. Though he is into research on HGH and GenF20 His favorite pass time is to blog on sex and weight loss.
