Roman Colosseum lit to protest an execution |
On March 30, 2011, Arizona executed
Eric King for the 1989 murders of two men at a Phoenix convenience store. The execution proceeded even after it was learned that the state may have obtained the lethal injection drug sodium thiopental from a British company illegally by identifying the drug in Customs and FDA documents as
intended for animals, not humans.
This is the tenth execution in the United States in 2011, the first in Arizona. King is the seventh African American to be executed this year.
