Longer posts or just links? How to calculate word count per post for your blog or any blog

1. Select archived month
2. Copy all posts
3. Paste in MS Word or any other text editor
4. Choose "Tools, Word count"
5. Divide by posts

The number you get is the average word count per post for any given month.

This simple method was brought up by the Twitter discussion below:

Ves Dimov, M.D.AllergyNotes Still amazed by the amount of text produced by some bloggers. Nothing wrong with it, just different from the way I use blogs for short notes

Laika (Jacqueline)laikas perhaps they don't use it 4 short notes

Ves Dimov, M.D.AllergyNotes @laikas "Amazed by amount of text by some bloggers - phaps they don't use it 4 short notes" - Apparently not.... :)

Ves Dimov, M.D.AllergyNotes @ctsinclair "Pallimed Avg words per post: Jan 2009: 496 words/post" - Any easy way to calculate this?
