Nowadays, billions and billions of people from almost all walks of life don't leave their home without a mobile phone in their hands. Therefore, it doesn't come as a surprise that applications developed for these devices are becoming the trend, and many of these kinds of apps are being developed and uploaded on the store.
However, what makes an app stand out among the rest? With the tight competition, it can be very hard to build an impressive app that will attract your target audience. Nevertheless, it can still be done, provided that you just keep in mind these simple tips.
Application Design & Usability
There are no set usability standards when developing apps for mobile phones, since these devices come in different screen resolutions, functions, etc. With that, it's almost impossible for the developer to solve some issues that might arise from the app. That's why it's very important for the developer to learn first the hardware of their target device, and design their app accordingly.
As a start, do not build any kind of app without first building a workflow chart. That way, you will be properly guided on the development process, and you'll be assured that you don't go overboard.
Do not get carried away with so many features for your app. Doing so may complicate the usage of app and make it hard for users to appreciate it. The K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid) Principle applies to this. Also, try not to fit lots of information on the app, as it could make the app look cluttered, and hard to see. In general, try to only use the features that you really think are necessary, and then optimize it to fit the small stature of the device.
Also, do not leave the users hanging when they use your app. Try to make your application loading time as fast as possible. Long loading times could deceive the user into thinking that the app has already malfunctioned. If the app is loading content from the web, put a loading indicator for it.
Application Testing
Not everyone will use the app the same way as you do, so it's important that you first test the app multiple times. First, you can test it yourself, and then select yourself a minor testing group that will use the app and point out any errors that might come up. Doing so will ensure the integrity of your app to the end-users, and it lets you know about any design flaws, or even security holes, that you might have missed during the development process.
Conclusion
As stated before, with the wide variety of mobile phones nowadays, there are really no set guidelines for app developers to follow. It really is just a matter of studying your target device, being familiar with it, then developing the app, which takes advantage of the features of the device.
However, if you just follow these guidelines, and determination, you'll be assured that you will get to build that impressive app that will be enjoyed by many mobile phone users.

Features of Apple iPhone 5 16GB
The iPhone 5 was launched across India on 2nd November, 2012. The new edition was launched very soon after the last launch in the iPhone series. This iPhone earned its fame for homing the 6th generation of iOS which has since received an upgrade to the iOS 6.1. The iPhone 5, in true Apple style comes with a host of improvements over its predecessor that the company has been consistent about.
It comes in three versions of inbuilt memory - the 8, 16 and 32GB. We are about to do a review of the 16GB version of the iPhone 5.
Design
It has a very compact candy bar design. Its slim and tall dimensions of 4.87 x 2.31 x 0.30 inches are further enhanced with a body weight of mere 112 grams. The phone is 18% thinner and 20% lighter than the iPhone 4S. The phone is similar in looks to its predecessors except for the back which is made of anodized aluminium with ceramic inlays (on the white and silver model) or pigmented glass (on the black and slate model) on both ends of the phone.
Display
The iPhone 5 received half an inch raise in display size offering users a 4 inches LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touch screen with display size of 640 x 1136 pixels. The device has more length but retains the width of the previous iPhones. It has the retina display that was introduced with the 4S, which offers high pixel density of 326 ppi. The dimensions allow users to view more data on a single page.
Processor & RAM
The iPhone 5 has a 1.2GHz dual core Apple A6 processor with 1GB of RAM. Apple claims that the A6 chipset is twice as fast as the A5 chips that were built in the previous iPhones, also offering better graphic experience. The chip size is also 20% smaller, allowing the company to reduce the body size of the device. With these features, the phone promises a fast browsing experience. The absence of a quad core processor is likely to raise some eyes though.
Operating System
The iPhone 5 comes with iOS 6 in the box and the new update of iOS 6.1 has recently been released which can be installed into the device. The iOS 6.1 comes with over 200 new applications including enhancements added to the existing applications. Some of the features include LTE support for more carriers, enhancements for Siri app, downloading individual songs from iCloud, a new Maps app and much more.
Camera
It has an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash which records videos at 1080 pixels. There is a 1.2 MP front camera that is useful for video calling. The front camera also has HD video recording facility, which means FaceTime can be done with HD video calls. The iPhone 5 also has a new feature called the Panorama Mode which allows users to take multiple photos at a time which are then stitched together to give panoramic photo. besides this the camera also offers features such as Back-illuminated sensor (BSI), Auto focus, Touch to focus, Digital image stabilization, Face detection, Geo tagging, High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode.
Memory & Battery
The phone comes in two other versions beside the 16GB version we are discussing. The Apple phones have never really offered the memory expansion provision externally. This is a major drawback of Apple phones. Also, users cannot use the entire 16GB of memory available; about 4GB of the 16GB is untouchable.
It's built with a 1,440mAh battery offering up to 8 hours talk time and 225 hours on standby on both 2G and 3G connections.
Verdict
The iPhone 5 version 16GB is different from the other two versions only in terms of the memory space available, the rest of the features remain same. It is a really great device with beautiful looks and features. Also add to it all the latest Apple features, be it the processor, camera or design. The device is available at a price of around Rs. 45,000.

Apps that make great business sense
Making your business mobile makes a huge amount of sense logistically. Luckily, there are a number of eminently suitable apps to help you get the cogs of your business turning, even when you are on the move.
Maybe your business just doesn't have a proper office yet, or perhaps you are in the middle of moving office. Possibly the needs of your business require you to be on the move a lot of the time. Perhaps you just like to travel a lot and you can get away with working through your devices while padding around in your flip-flops and Speedos. Either way, you need to make sure that your smartphone or tablet can help you get the job done in record time, so you have more time to work on the real important things in life, like your tan.
Readdle Pro Scan and Printer Pro: Imprint this on your memory
These are two exceptionally useful apps, which you will find handy when you are in the office, and not just when you are travelling. Scanner Pro essentially transforms your device into a portable scanner. It is very quick and convenient to use and is particularly useful for scanning segments of documents. Meanwhile the Printer Pro gives the user the option of printing attachments, documents and web pages straight from an iPhone or iPad. Again it is very convenient and saves a fair amount of the hassle of using an office computer. It is perhaps particularly handy for small businesses where there is not that much call or space for a proper office. Restaurateurs, bar owners and clothing shop owners would probably find both tools especially useful.
OfficeTime: Every minute spent is a pound earned
If you have the luxury of being able to bill your customers by the hour or even, heaven be praised, by the minute, then OfficeTime will help make sure that you don't miss a second of how long you spent working on a project.
The app comes free and is more than adequate for smaller-sized offices thanks to being able to track multiple hourly rates with multiple timers. It also operates effectively offline. There is a timer in the background so you can keep track of how much time you are spending on each project as you work on it.
There is a simple upgrade to the pro version, which larger law firms, for example, will find useful. There is also a feature that allows you to export the date to Excel or Numbers, which makes invoicing much easier.
My Lead Responder: An easy sell
There is an extraordinarily fine-line between following up a lead and pestering. Your client or lead is invariably busy and will most likely require gentle pushing to remind him to sign up to your services. If you are too timid or simply forget to chase the lead up then you could easily lose the client, but at the same time if you push too hard you could end up causing resentment. With My Lead Responder, you can easily keep track of how much time has passed between each push, so that you always get it just right. It also helps you keep track of the dates you agreed with your client to reconvene the enquiry. Estate agents in particular will love this app.
FormMobi: Send forms at a fair clip
FormMobi is a Cloud-based clipboard that will save you hours of retyping. Just create a form, collect the data remotely on your smartphone, or even better, your tablet, and then export the data to any platform with just the click of a button.

5 Ways an iPad Monitoring App Makes a Parent's Life Easier
Being a parent is not as easy as it used to be. In the past, the woman stayed at home and took care of the children. We now know that it's unfair and that both man and woman have the right t have careers and professional development and that taking care of the children is the responsibility of both. But with both parents working (and they'd better be, since it's getting close to impossible to sustain a family with only one salary), there is less time to take care of the children.
That's just one of the many reasons parents are getting an iPad monitoring app. With it, their job as a parent becomes simple. Of course, no application can truly replace a parent, but it is alright to get all the help you can get. Here's how the app makes your life simpler:
1.- It Lets You Know Where Your Child Is. No more getting out of work or start calling the school and other parents at random because your child is not at home at the time he or she is supposed to and is not answering the phone. All you need to do is to log into your app account and you'll find out right away where your child is. Is he at a friend's house or at a place you've never heard of?
2.- It Tells You What Type of Friends Your Child Has. Since children pay more attention to their peers than to their parents, it's important to know who your child's friends are. Are they good students who like to do things that are appropriate for their age? Or are they the sort of friends that you've warned your child not to spend time with?
3.- It Informs You of the Nature of Your Child's Special Someone. Children usually start dating at a younger age than we did and without letting us know. However, being "in love" almost always dims their judgement and they can't really be objective about the person they are dating. Plus, lets be honest, if you have a daughter, you probably don't want your daughter to date anyone at all, and you'll be happy to know the identity of the guy who is dating her to give him a piece of your mind.
4.- It Shows You the Websites Your Child Visits. There is a lot that you can infer from the sites that your child visits and the type of information that he or she looks for. For example, if your child is looking at porn sites or sites about birth control, it doesn't require a Sherlock Holmes to know that you should speak with him or her about sex.
Being a parent is difficult but worth it. And you can make it easier for you by getting an iPad monitoring app. It's easy to use and definitely worth the money.

Being a parent is difficult but worth it. And you can make it easier for you by getting an iPad monitoring app. It's easy to use and definitely worth the money.

Nokia Lumia 610 Windows Phone to launch in June
Nokia has ended much speculation, revealing its MWC unveiled entry level Windows Phone handset, the Nokia Lumia 610 will be officially released next month.
Set to hit stores across the UK in the coming weeks, the 610 will build on the company's existing, and highly popular, selection of Windows Phone packing, Lumia branded handsets, taking on the throng of budget, entry level Android devices in the process.
Nokia Lumia 610 Release Date
Following its first officially outing during the Barcelona based Mobile World Congress convention earlier this year, there have been a number of rumours surrounding when exactly the first truly budget Windows Phone handset would hit the market.
Although Nokia has yet to reveal a concrete date of arrival, the Finnish phone manufacturer has spoken out, confirming the Lumia 710 sibling will be available to consumers in June.
Nokia Lumia 610 Specs
Living up to its budget billing, the Nokia Lumia 610 plays host to an acceptable but hardly groundbreaking array of specs.
With a 3.7-inch display lining up on the handset's fore with an 800 x 400p resolution, the minimalist 256MB of RAM found about the 610 means the handset will not be able to run the newly launch Skype for Windows Phone application, a service which requires at least 512MB of memory.
Playing host to a rather impressive 8GB of internal storage, those looking for more space will be able to make use of 25GB worth of complementary SkyDrive based cloud storage.
