Defend yourself: A mix of martial arts and practical self defence

In India, post the now infamous, tragic, Delhi gang rape, the number of women signing up for martial arts based self-defence classes has increased by leaps and bounds, resulting in a mixed response in context with the actual effectiveness of some forms of what is popularly known as "MMA" or Mixed Martial Arts. Understanding the pros and cons of some popularly taught forms of MMA, and juxtaposing them with practical knowledge such as learning how to remain calm during an attack, will allow us to develop an easy-to-master and easy to implement set of personal safety skills which will serve to protect us in case we are attacked.

One of the most popularly-taught forms of self-defence is Krav Maga, which constitutes a blend of mixed martial arts techniques such as boxing, Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu and Wing Chun, is non-competitive in nature and was developed in order to train Israeli Military Forces. Krav Maga is popularly taught, and is said to be effective for women as it is easy to learn and focuses on attacking vulnerable parts of the attacker's body such as the throat, eyes, groin and joints.

Aikido is another method which is popular due to its philosophy of combining self-defence without causing harm to the attacker. The philosophy behind Aikido is that when someone attacks you, they automatically lower their own defences, and that you remain defensively invulnerable if you do not counter-attack them. The technique involves learning how to fall, learning how to throw, and also involves mental and physical conditioning exercises. Its effectiveness is high but it could take time to master.

Jiu-jitsu is said to be one of the more female-friendly forms of self-defence as it allows relatively smaller people to disable larger and heavier attackers by disabling their centre of gravity. The method also involves gouging, kicks, choke holds and joint locks, which, if practised regularly under a trained instructor, would be highly effective during a fight.

Wenlido offers a combination of practical moves such as using specific words [learning to say "NO"] and various other preventative measures which are aimed towards avoiding a physical confrontation; physical confrontation, unlike the other aforementioned methods, is a last resort. Wenlido focuses mostly on mentally training women on how to ward off an attack, and can be mastered within 2 days.

Apart from popular MMA based self-defence techniques, some classes offer a blend of other, lesser-known but equally effective arts such as the Philippines based Escrima, which teach people how to use everyday articles and objects as "weapons", such as newspapers, umbrellas, even mobile phones. Escrima is a technique made popular by the Bourne series of films.

For those who are not interested in investing time and money into developing MMA-based skills, there are a host of other forms of self-defence, which range from wearing a whistle, to carrying cans of pepper spray, to loading handbags and purses with sharp objects to poke an offender with, and in extreme cases, carrying actual weapons. On a practical note however, it is safe to conclude that the most legal and lethal weapon every person can have is their own body strength, which is why learning some basic self-defence techniques, whether MMA-based or not, is not only recommended, but a valuable life skill.

Five Simple Tips To Create Room For Exercise

No matter whether it was a new year's resolution or you have been fitness addicts for ages, it is getting extremely tough to fit workouts in your busy schedules. Almost everyone is living with a tight schedule nowadays coupled with a slight lack of motivation for exercise. This results in skipping the gyms and workout plans and before you even know it, a month has passed by when you last stretched your body.

How to Find Time for Exercise:

You only need 30 minutes for couple of days every week and that will be enough for an average person. If however, you cannot do exercise for this small amount of time, there are some micro exercises that you can do easily. Nonetheless, you have to make a schedule and stick to it to maximize the benefits. Following lines explain some sneaky methods to find some time for workout sessions.

Make Use of Lunch Hours:

Instead of stuffing a sandwich or chatting with friends in company cafeteria, lunch time can be utilized to stretch the body and refresh your mind. Therefore, you can find a near by gym offering classes in 12-2 pm slot or if you are a social guy, can go for a small walk with your friends. This will not only make your body to have some physical exercise but will rejuvenate your mind as well.

Commute Your Habits:

Everyone cannot manage this but if you can do so, you can get some welcome exercise while going to and coming back from work. For instance, if office is situated close to your home, leave the car behind and make use of your legs or bicycle. On the other hand, if you have to go far enough, leave the bus or train one stop before your destination and walk to your office. The advantage of commuting is that it will seamlessly adjust into your routines providing a myriad of health benefits.

Start Your Day With Exercise:

If you want to start the exercise, make it a priority and do it before anything else in the day. If you perform the workouts in the morning, you will not have to find time for it later on. Morning jerks are often more effective than coffee and things like gentle walk will do the job for you. If however, as a starter you are troubled by hectic exercises, you can use natural muscle building and fitness supplements to ward of the fatigue and tiredness.

Exercise Immediately After Work:

It is a wrong thinking to go to gym after dinner because in most of the cases you remain glued to your sofa or bed. So it is better to go straight to gym after work because once you get home, it is mostly very difficult to induce enough motivation and energy to attend the gym classes.

Exercise With Kids:

It is difficult job to handle kids but you can make it interesting by exercising with them. Therefore, instead of going to bowling, take your kids to nearby park for a gentle walk. Furthermore, get rid of your pride and enjoy with your kids and you can even take them to explore country sides on weekends.

Conclusion:

These subtle changes in your lifestyle will definitely bring many health benefits for you and you will experience a better body and more energetic brain within that body.

Lose the Extra Forever

Stop Starving and Start Living!

In today's culture it is a shameful thing to be overweight and, even if the condition is medical and not the case of a regular couch-potato or a white-collar office rat, people are stigmatized and labeled all the time. The position of the medical professionals is clear being overweight is harmful to one's overall health and it increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases as well as diabetes and cancer. However, although it is logical that people would primarily care for their health and not merely for the way they look, in today's culture, it has also become normal that the media dictate not only the standards music, taste, art, beauty and other-wise, but also the standards and the widely accepted values health-wise. Namely, in today's society it is not uncommon to starve oneself for days, weeks or months in order to lose a few extra pounds. It is also a commendable sacrifice considering the overwhelming choice of food fast foods, as well as restaurant made and served foods and the promoted party-goer lifestyle that includes the consumption of alcohol that is certainly above the recommended dosage, both for the health and the body weight. The problems young men and women are facing today are what kind of stance they should take, what lifestyle they should choose should they become gym-goers even though they do not like exercising indoors and only because it is the trendy thing to do? Should one decide to spend their life craving for chocolate or a hamburger, but completely give up on meats, dairies and sweets because there are celebrities talking about it? Is one to starve themselves to thinness at the cost of their health, only because the current pop-culture says it is the preferable thing to do?

There are plenty of choices and plenty of paths before young individuals today and neither is uninfluenced by the culture of esthetic-ideal-frenzy and misconceptions.

Nevertheless, there are certain facts that everyone, young in the body and young in the soul, should bear in mind when finally taking the time to decide on their lifestyle in the long-run, and also certain advice that they should take under consideration.
  • 1. Starving is not dieting!
Starving oneself does not guarantee weight loss at all. In fact, the reality of things is much different. Starving creates the opposite effect of what the person trying to lose weight is doing it activates the stress hormone secretion in the body and completely slows down the metabolic processes. When metabolism is lowered to the bare minimum, everything that we intake is considered a precious substance the body stores it. Now, we usually have problems with particular areas of our bodies whether it is the thighs that we cannot shape the way we want to, or it is the abs that defy the sculptor's efforts and sweat it is genetically predetermined whether one would gain weight quickly or have difficulty losing it, where the deposits would go first or most, etc. We are basically sentenced to being dependent on our genetic code, but not to be enslaved by it! Moreover, we are the ones with the power to change or, at least, modify the way our body functions if your body is slow to burn fat, the decrease of calories you intake and the increase of physical activity cannot fail to reduce the body weight. If your body is more responsive to a particular diet, then it is that diet that you should pursue regardless of whether it is recommended by the celebrity nutritionists, as long as it includes healthy foods and an appropriate mixture of proteins and carbs.

  • 2. Weight loss is a result of a proper diet and exercise!
There are many diets today, protein or carbohydrates based, whose supposed efficiency is even promoted by celebrities worldwide. However, one must always bear in mind that what helps one individual maintain or lose weight, or better yet, speed up the metabolic processes, need not work for another. Therein lays the main problem in today's world, which relies on quick fixes for the most part. What is very difficult for some people to accept is that there are no easy and quick solutions to the problem of their bodies being different than the current, though rather changeable, standard of body-beautiful.

Very often people disregard the fact that they are the ones who know themselves and their body best. Therefore, any diet or regimen can be figured out easily by mere observation. It is widely known that the best foods to speed up one's metabolism are green raw vegetables in combination with protein rich, but low fat meats. It may not be a strict diet promoted by a famous actor, but it can be your personalized combination that gives best results. Namely, with an appropriate amount of exercise, which should, by the by, be moderate and with plenty of resting time, and a regimen that is restrictive enough to prevent you from taking in too many calories, but not to leave you craving for your favorite food, the results will not be disappointing. Moreover, with balanced diet and exercise, there will not only be changes in the size of your body, but there will be visible change in the way the body reacts to food, physical activity overall, sleep and stress and the changes will be positive! From the improvement of one's mood to the improvement of the body image, there will not be a better incitement to continue at the same, or even at a quicker pace!

  • 3. Do not despair! The change is not supposed to come overnight! Drink your water!
Many people hope and pray even that the stored deposits of fat simply vanish from their bodies as if it did not take years for them to be stored and forgotten there in the first place. It may actually be the worst enemy of all those who are trying to lose those extra pounds forever.

Let me break it to you it is virtually impossible to lose all that weight over a short period of time in a way that is healthy for you and in a way that will not produce the yo-yo effect soon after.

Just think about it your only way of cleansing yourself is to start by burning the excess. That means that you should not take in more than absolutely necessary, more than the bare minimum of nutritive substances. However, there are also toxins and all kinds of waste that has to be flushed out you need plenty of water! And you need to drink it in such a way so as not to make yourself sick!

Water is what will help you not only get rid of the waste and the toxins, but also what will help you additionally speed up your metabolism  drink it cold! It will help with the digestion as well, as long as you eat food that is not processed and that is sugar-free (as you well should!).

It is very important to maintain a routine and not to stray too much from it. However, do not allow your diet and exercising to take over your life you had a life before the major decision and you made the decision because you wanted to improve your life! Do not allow for your hobbies and other (healthy) habits and practices to become neglected. That includes your friends. Instead, try asking for support from your family and friends and make sure that they understand why you are making such an effort to change your life. Who knows! Maybe you will inspire someone close to you to take up a sport or change their eating habits.

  • 4. Take seriously only the reason you made the decision in the first place and not yourself!
It will not be the end of the world if you break the rules once in a while, but just think about the work and the effort you have then wasted. Do not take the decision to live a healthier life as a sentence your goal is not to become thin and then return to where you started. No! Your goal is to establish a new pattern of behavior and change your complete lifestyle dieting differently, drinking differently yes, that means no, or very little alcohol, and yes, wine is an alcoholic beverage and the same goes for beer and exercising regularly, will lower your stress levels, increase your tolerance to stress and improve your general health by enhancing your body's ability to fight disease. Not to mention that your new improved immune system will be more powerful against the seasonal colds and the flu, but also cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancer, and we all know that this is of the essence today!

What problems do you solve when you lose weight?

People with a weight problem and overweight people have many reasons to decide to lose those extra pounds. Working on a weight problem is a good way to start taking care of your body. The results for some people are immediate, but for some it takes more time before the change starts to show. Changing a life style in order to become healthier and fit demands a lot of motivation. After getting the wanted results, there is also a lot of work on keeping and maintaining the weight on the same level.

Those who want to lose weight need to be well prepared for a long term process of changing the way of thinking, changing the way they see food, changing their eating habits and their lifestyle and, also, working on one's personality. It is common to many psychologists and psychiatrists that obesity is not a strictly somatic problem but rather a psychological one.

People who have eating disorders usually have issues in the core of their personality that cause gaining weight. It is known that depression can lead to weight gain because sufferers from depression engage in comfort eating. People who suffer from social phobia want to lose weight and think that the phobia will be gone. They do not realize that losing weight will not help them feel good about themselves and won't boost up their self-confidence.

People who decide to lose weight should ask themselves why they want to lose weight. The question is where will it lead you emotionally and what do you really want to achieve. You should look deep inside yourself and find the real reasons or work on the reasons why you gained weight in the first place. Also, it is important to determine how to lose it. There are many crash diets that give drastic results and after a certain period of time all those pounds come back. So it is important to choose a safe way to lose weight. Losing weight usually leads to a positive bill of health, but not necessarily. Crash diets and starvation can lead to many heart and kidney problems.

Working only on your appearance might give you external results but losing weight will not make you a happier person.

What is a healthy weight loss?

It is important to determine what an overweight person is and what an obese person is. If you are an individual who thinks that you have to lose weight, it does not necessarily mean that you are overweight. You should consider the amount of fat in your body and where the fat is built in so you can determine if you are overweight. Sometimes people make mistakes and do not consider that their muscles and bones can be quite heavy.

The common way to determine if a person is overweight is to calculate the body mass index (BMI) and waist measurements.

BMI determines how much your weight is related to your body height. Waist measurements show how fat is distributed in the body. People who have BMI over 30 are considered obese and people between 25 and 30 are considered overweight.

Many people who are overweight do not have health problems. Being overweight can cause problems if a person already has some health issues (he or she is ill or has other conditions).

Depending on a person's body mass index and other factors, losing weight can be healthy and necessary. In some cases it is not necessary and can even lead to problems, if not physical then emotional.

If you want to lose weight you should first consult a specialist. It is important that you really have to lose weight and to find a healthy and safe way to do it. Sometimes people confuse dieting and the hygiene of eating. It is a big difference if you are dieting and trying to lose weight by starving yourself and extensively exercising. Dieting might mean that you are changing your life style by changing your eating habits and exercising on a regular basis. It means that you are taking care of yourself and your body and not just exhausting it with diets.

A healthy weight loss is changing something in your life that is keeping you unhappy. Working on the reason why you gained weight in the first place is a good start. The main reasons for weight loss are psychological in nature. A person is usually not aware of them and that is why people want to lose weight for the wrong reasons.

What are some benefits of weight loss?

Being overweight or obese can cause many health problems. Those long-term problems can shorten your life or make it very handicapping. Cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes can be prevented in some cases and if diagnosed before completely developing. Gaining weight can prolong them or even cause them. Some of the reasons why people try to lose weight are, logically, to prevent these illnesses.

The main benefit from losing weight is reducing the risk for all those life threatening diseases. Other benefits that people may feel are feeling healthier all in all and being full of energy. The safest and the healthiest way to lose weight are combining exercise and good nutrition. That will help you increase your fitness. Losing weight is not always going to make you a healthier person. It can cause many other issues you would have to work on. If you use weight-loss drugs, you can suffer from many side effects. A drug called "rimonabant" was suspended because its main side effect is depression. Another drug, called "sibutramine" has some positive effects but they do not state all the harmful side effects like cardiovascular disease, for instance. A drug called "orlistat" causes yellowish skin, itch, darker urine and upper-abdominal symptoms that can all be signs of liver damage.

If you have osteoarthritis in the knees, you can feel an improvement by losing weight. Your weight puts on a lot of pressure on your knees and joints which can cause strong pain. Losing weight releases you from that pressure and pain, while gaining more weight increases the chance of developing osteoarthritis in the first place.

If you suffer from some kind of illness, like type 2 diabetes or cardiovascular diseases, losing weight can improve your condition. Your doctor might decide if you should be taking less medication or if you should stop.

There are also some psychological benefits from losing weight. It has been said before that people with weight problems have specific emotional issues that are in the core of their personality. Getting healthier and fit is not only external. People who are on a journey of losing weigh should first of all work on their personality and the problems that caused the weight issues.

How to keep the weight off?

Losing weight with just dieting is not a safe and a healthy way to lose weight. Also, all that weight off will be gained back if the work on the weight problem was superficial. In order to lose weight and to maintain it permanently, the best way is to change certain aspects of a person's life style. It is important to change eating habits and to exercise on a regular basis. In order to make exercising and dieting permanent, a person should find the habit that he or she enjoys most, or the one that is practical to keep up with.

Researches show that people who diet and exercise to lose weight, in comparison to those who only diet, lose 20% more. A year later, all the people who dieted and exercised were still fit.

I need to add that, if you like to walk and you chose walking as your exercise, it is not beneficial for you if you just walk slowly. Moderate-intensity exercise is a rhythm that can give some effects. That means that, if you want your work out to benefit you, your heart rate needs to be increased. You do not have to exercise up until you run out of breath, but you will have to exert yourself at least a little to get some results. Brisk walking is very beneficial, especially to those people who have been very inactive. People who work full-time are recommended to walk briskly for 30 minutes every day (for example to work and from work).

How to stay motivated?

Losing weight is a long term process that has its ups and downs. You should have somebody to encourage you in the process of dieting and exercising. You can get support from your doctor, therapist or your family and friends. You can also join special groups to talk to people who are in the same situation like you and that can understand you the best.

The diet and exercise plans you make should be suited to your state of health. You should consult a specialist to see your options. Sometimes, after you lose a certain amount of weight you reach the peak, where the process stops. In order to continue with your plan and not get discouraged you should start trying something new.

If you start losing strength or will, it is important not to give up. You can call on your past successes and see the reductions in your weight so far. That could help you get motivated again.

For people who are at risk of heart disease and have high cholesterol and sugar levels in their blood, the reduction of those levels in their body does not necessarily mean that they are not at risk any more but it certainly means that they are on the right track. It is encouraging to see levels of cholesterol and sugar going down.

Usually, when people notice losing weight, they feel better emotionally and physically. If you are not satisfied, or you are disappointed with your progress, remember that weight loss is still making you healthier.

Some people expect life to be easier by losing weight which is rather unrealistic. Being overweight causes many problems, but the weight itself is not responsible for all those problems. Getting to know yourself, your body and accepting yourself in general, is more important than losing weight. After being in peace with your inner self, it will be easier to plan your weight loss.

Belly Flattening Meals

The idea of a fit body for many people is having a flat belly and this is a goal of both men and women. Even though exercise is important, there are also some foods which can give really good results. It's not an easy task to get a flat stomach area, but with the right diet and proper exercise it is mission possible.

Next time you go grocery shopping, you could shop for these belly flattening foods which will serve as the right catalyst for the change. Try to get rid of the food in your fridge that fattens your stomach and focus on eating and living healthier. The first thing to understand is that you can't get any good results without regular eating. Missing the breakfast or the lunch won't make you lose belly fat, but it can have the opposite effect. You need at least three meals every day - a powerful breakfast, a light lunch and a healthy dinner not later than 7pm. Another thing to put into practice is drinking more water - water intake is actually on top of the list of foods and drinks which can flatten your belly. Here is a list of three types of foods which can help you reach your goal.

Fats

Did you know that monounsaturated fatty acids are quite beneficial for belly flattening? These are found in nuts and seeds, avocado, olives and olive oil and dark chocolate. These foods have plenty of calories, so you need to only have small portions and measure the proteins intake. For instance, in just three slices of avocado there are 50 calories, so don't eat more than 3-4 pieces a day. What's great about this group of foods is that it suits various cravings - for sweet, creamy and salty. Just make sure that you can differentiate between good fats and bad fats - polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats are both good for you.

Carbohydrates

In order to flatten your belly, you need to consume carbohydrates that are rich in fiber and other nutrients. Sources of these are Quinoa, Farro, sweet potato and yam. Lighter sources are berries, fruits and vegetables. Eat oranges as they have less sugar than apples and pears, but more vitamin C, beta carotene and fiber. Choose leafy vegetables such as collard greens and spinach. Eat berries for more energy and for antioxidants.

Proteins

The most popular source of protein (especially for breakfast) is the egg. Buy brown eggs which are rich in Omega-3 and eat scrambled or hard-boiled. Reduce the amount of yolk as the best nutrients for your figure are in the white. You can also east oatmeal, fish and chicken - these are perfect belly flattening meat sources. Other good fish is salmon, tilapia and halibut. Eat almonds (full of highly absorbable protein), yogurt (low in sugar) and cottage cheese.

Running Without Shoes Why Consider Foot Strike?

There are three major classification of how a runner's foot strikes the ground:

Heel Striking
Heel lands first, then the forefoot comes down (heel-toe running)

Midfoot Striking
Heel and ball of the foot land simultaneously

Forefoot Striking
Ball of the foot lands first (usually below the 4th and 5th metatarsals) before the heel comes down (toe-heel-toe running

"Approximately 75% of habitually shod runners all over the world heel strike (Hasegawa et al., 2007)."

Running injuries
Studies suggest that at least 30% of runners get injured every year, and many of these injuries stem from problems that arise in the foot or lower leg (va Gent et al., 2007).

Bere Foot for Long Running
The bare foot may be well suited for running long distance without requiring modern, heavily cushioned, high-heeled running shoes.

Running Shoes vs. Bare Foot
Most runners who wear standard running shoes usually heel strike, but our research suggests that most barefoot or minimally shoe endurance runners barefoot and sometime midfoot strike.

History of Running
Human and our recent ancestors have been accomplished endurance runners for more than a million years (Bramble and Lieberman, 2004).

Minimal Footware
Humans evolved to run and before the mid 1970s all humans ran in either no shoes or very minimal footwear such as sandals, moccasins or thin running flats.

Safely Foot Landing
Humans were able to run comfortably and safely when barefoot or in minimal footwear by landing with a flat foot (midfoot strike) or by landing on the ball of the foot before bringing down the heel (barefoot strike).

Is a study gathered and illustrated By Altrazerodrop.com about the advantages of barefoot running.

Weight loss from infrared sauna

Let's discuss the process of weight loss from infrared sauna by taking into considerations the penetration of energy into the body, liquidation of fat, burning of calories and other instructions for getting best result for losing weight.

Penetration of energy
The invisible energy form accepted by human body as heat is called infrared sauna. Organic molecules vibrate as soon as they come in contact with infrared energy. This energy penetrates into the deep tissues of human body by creating heat among muscles, fat as well as organs.

Your body has an instant reaction to infrared and it enhances the heart as well as the metabolic rate in return. The heat makes your body sweat by releasing fluid and effecting in instant weight loss. Moreover an enhancement in the metabolic rate of your body has a direct effect on the way it processes foods.

Liquidation of fat
You must know that sweat released from body pores often carries molecules of fat with it and fat cells dissolve at a temperature of 110 degree Fahrenheit. So your fat can be discharged through pores with sweat during half an hour infrared session. The weight that you will loss in this process is much more than the weight of water. This is actually the loss of fat that helps in reducing the cellulite. The loss of fat associated with it is also thought to produce an effect on the cholesterol level of your body.

Burning of calories
Besides reducing the retention of water as well as storage of fat, infrared therapy also help in the promotion of weight loss through calorie burning. Your body burns calories in a natural way at the time of sweating and infrared session produces so much sweat that your body can burn to an approximation of 800 calories in just a single session.

Getting the best result
You can get the best result from infrared therapy by drinking lots of water, rinsing all your lotions and creams, wearing bath suits, maintaining healthy diet and performing regular exercise.

Drinking lots of water
Now if you want to get the best result for losing weight, you must drink lots of water before opting for an infrared session for staying hydrated. It's because if you don't drink adequate quantity of water, your body won't be able to sweat properly and this will hold back the fat cells as well as toxins from leaving your body. Moreover your mouth will also become dry and you will feel dehydrated.

Rinsing lotions and cream
Beside drinking water you should also try to rinse out all lotions as well as creams from the skin before opting for this therapy. It is due to the fact that lotions can clog up the pores of your body and keep sweat and fat inside your body.

Wearing bath suit
Again you should put on a bath suit or nothing at all after showering or cleansing your body for getting the maximum weight loss from this therapy.

Maintaining healthy diet
You should also try to combine the infrared therapy with a healthy diet. You can include lots of vegetables, fruits as well as whole grains in your daily routine and get rid of the habit of taking processed and enriched white flour foods.

Performing regular exercise
Besides maintaining a healthy diet, you should also perform exercise on a regular basis.

Bottom line
So if you can follow infrared sauna therapy along with other instructions for getting the best result, you can definitely enjoy a good health by losing your weight.

How To Sweat More Using Quick Exercises Guidelines

Exercising is difficult and finding a routine that works for you is the key to getting the results that you want in both the short term and long runs. There are a few guidelines that you can follow in order to sweat more and lose the most weight possible in the shortest amount of time. Following these simple guidelines is the best way to get your heart pumping and start shedding those pounds.

1. Short Bursts Work Best- training with endurance exercises is a good way to get your resting heart rate and blood pressure down when you are not exercising but when trying to work up a sweat and lose major pounds, doing short bursts of varied exercises is the best way. Doing short bursts of varied activity keeps you moving and keeps you focused on what you are doing.

2. Vary Your Workout- Switch up what you do and try not to fall into a routine that is too predictable. Muscle confusion is the best way to get your body moving and to work up a sweat. As you exercise your body becomes used to what you are doing, say for instance you are training with elliptical machines, it may work great for the first week but once your body has a chance to adapt to what it is doing you lose valuable muscle building that can help you burn fat. Try switching up your exercises every three or four days to keep your body working.

3. Do Not Rest too Frequently- resting is essential to keeping up your routine but you should not rest after every set. Moving from one exercise to another helps keep your heart rate up and keeps your body working even when you are not physically moving. Resting after every set gets your heart rate down and keeps your body from working up a sweat that can help you burn fat. Try moving around to two or three exercises before you rest to keep your heart pumping.

4. Room Temperature Does Matter- while most people want to be cool and comfortable while exercising, studies have proven that exercising in a room that is a bit warmer is a great way to get your blood flowing and to work up a sweat. Working out in a room that is overly cool constricts blood flow and makes it harder to work up a sweat and get your body moving.

5. Cardio is King- when it comes to exercising cardio is your best friend. If you want to work up a quick sweat cardio is the quickest way to do that. Working on cardio is a great way to work up a quick sweat and to keep your body moving. Cardio gets your heart pumping and your blood flowing which raises your core temperature and helps work up a quick sweat.

Any of these tips is a great way to work up a sweat and start shedding those unwanted pounds. Finding a routine and a method that works and sticking to it is the best way to get the body that you want quickly and easily. Following one or more of these tips can help you work up a sweat by doing quick exercises that can help you shed pounds quickly.

A Food Regime That Really Burns That Fat Off

If you're tired of annoying fad diets that only wear you out and make you gain even more weight in the end, you can read on. After following different pieces of advice on how to lose weight, I realized that the golden rule of starting a food regime is: avoiding diets that promise wonders.

There are some ways you can lose weight faster, but doctors and nutritionists generally advise that losing up to 2.5 pounds per week is the right amount for someone who wants to lose and maintain weight healthily. This might sound disappointing for people who need to lose a lot of weight, because it will take them months. But if you want to do it right, this is the way.

5 Simple Rules That Will Help You Get Rid of That Extra Fat

1) Drink two glasses of room-temperature water as soon as you wake up. Wait for 45 minutes before you eat breakfast, but don't skip it. If you can't bear drinking so much water on an empty stomach, there's an alternative solution: eat one apple instead.

2) Drink lots of water throughout the day. This is VERY important. Water helps you get rid of toxins and it postpones hunger.

3) Try to eat 5-6 portions of food throughout the day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 2-3 snacks (the snacks can be yogurt, fruit, salad, soup; no junk food allowed). Don't eat more than one piece of bread per meal.

4) Make sure you don't eat dinner after 7 PM. If you're really very hungry later than that, drink a cup of plain yogurt or eat a small piece of non-fat cheese, a cucumber, a carrot, etc.

5) Avoid sugars as much as you can. The ideal solution would be to completely ban them from your food regime. You'll probably lose weight the most once you stop eating sweets altogether. If you absolutely cannot stay away from sugar, eat dark chocolate.

If you can also squeeze in some 45-60 minute exercises or daily walks, your body will be very thankful.

This is not too complicated to follow. Unlike some diets, there are no strict rules or specific meal descriptions here, so you are free to plan your own meals, but try to use as much fruits and vegetables as you can. Plain yogurt is very healthy and good for weight loss, remember that. And, drink water. The process is slow but it's proven it works, and it's very rewarding after a month or two.

Healthy Food for Growing Muscles

Did you just picture Olive and Popeye? Yes, they are the classic cartoon characters. Popeye is the character with rich muscles and gets his strength from eating spinach, and Olive is a skinny lady who is Popeye's love interest.

Listen to your body
Our body tells us if we are living a healthy diet. Our skin, our eyes, our hair, and even our finger nails can tell what we are not eating and we have been doing to keep either a fit or fat body. The ultimate manifestation of a great wealth in health is our figure, the contours of our body tells us if we had been eating and moving right since the growth of our first tooth.

Figure, contour, shape, muscle formation and skin color. These are outward proof of a good discipline and healthy routine. A well-toned skin and a firm muscle is basically everyone's dream to have, but unfortunately 99% just dream about it and fail. Only 1% of us persistently and successfully gets to the finish line.

You shouldn't read huge custom research papers to find out the benefits of eating healthy food and going in for sports. It's too obvious.

The power of proteins
Now going back to Popeye, did you really think that's spinach? I'd say partly yes, partly no, and here's something new. Spinach is rich in iron which aids protein for the formation of muscles so to speak. Body figure is formed by muscles, muscles are formed by protein, and gaining such figure needs doses of healthy food for growing muscles.

Protein is broken down to amino acids, and to build ample protein it needs to grow more muscle cells. Does that mean we should to eat a lot of pork or beef muscles to add meat to our body? No! Wrong, absolutely wrong. But that's a common perception, a common mistake.

The top sources of protein are legumes, some grains, and some vegetables. You can easily find protein rich foods at the supermarket, check and see the following: chicken and turkey, lean beef, fish and other seafood, eggs, cottage cheese and other low-fat dairy, beans, nuts, avocado, peas, plain yogurt, and milk.

High protein die
High protein diet is a typical body builders' diet that defines healthy food for the muscles. However, there is one more addition to the list of healthy food for growing muscles. Somehow related to Spinach, its name is "Moringa" in English, "Malunggay" in the Philippines, "Sojina" in the Indian Subcontinent, or "Moringa Oleifera" its scientific name.

Study shows that it is 25 times richer in iron than Spinach, 7 times richer in Vitamin C than Orange, 17 times richer in Calcium than Milk, 10 times richer in Vitamin A than Carrots, 15 times richer in Potassium than Banana, 9 times richer in Protein than Yogurt, 4 times more protein than eggs, and 2 times richer in protein than milk.

Sure, go ahead and count "protein". It is simply an amazing green leafy vegetable which is cultivated in Himalayas in India, Honduras, Madagascar and the Philippines. So if you can grab a bunch of this veggie today, you're on your way to great wealth and great muscles.

Tai chi classes make exercise accessible to people of all fitness levels

Few things are as important to maintaining overall health as getting regular exercise. Physical activity helps a person keep unwanted pounds away and it works out the cardiovascular system, which reduces the risk of heart disease.

Still, many people find it difficult to find activities that suit their interests or ability levels. For these individuals, tai chi exercises may be just the thing they need to maintain their health without forcing them into uncomfortable situations.

Tai chi exercises involve slow, calculated movements that are done while trying to achieve a calm state of mind. Because the workout is so low-impact, just about anyone can participate, including seniors and individuals who have not exercised for many years.
Just because the workout regimen is low-impact does not mean that is has little effect on a person's health. In fact, it is just the opposite. Participating in tai chi classes often leads to major cardiovascular and respiratory benefits. Furthermore, individuals are less likely to experience mental disorders like depression. Practitioners say the workout has a profound effect.

"It keeps you fit. I think it creates a lot more energy for me," Terry Lorenz, who recently started a tai chi club in Georgia, told the Savannah Morning News. "I was never a runner or lifted weights. I played baseball all my life and I was looking for something to replace that. It's worked well."

He added that most workout regimens focus on building specific muscles. Individuals will lift weights or do other thing to target each muscle of the body separately. However, tai chi is different in that it seeks to improve the fitness of the body as a whole. For this reason, exercises involve the entire body.

These types of benefits may be particularly important for seniors, who often have difficultly participating in vigorous physical activities. Tai chi can provide them with another option that is just as effective a workout but is less strenuous physically.

While most people think that they need to work themselves hard in order to gain any benefit from exercising, this is simply not the case. Low-impact workouts like tai chi exercises can enable individuals to gain the same physical health benefits of more intensive workouts like running or biking without the heavy demands on the body.

In this way, even individuals who previously thought they were not fit enough for exercise can gain the important health benefits of physical activity.

Dahn Yoga is one of the largest yoga and tai chi companies in the world with its own unique style and brand of yoga. Dahn Yoga is rooted in the rich history of an ancient Asian mind-body practice, Sun Do, and in the wisdom of the Chun Bu Kyung.
