The Oculus Riff

Virtual Reality gaming has been a fantasy for decades. We've been teased by the hype of new technologies over the years only to be disappointed. But this year, thanks to startup Oculus, it looks like virtual reality might become... well.. a reality. The Oculus Rift was previewed at CES 2013 to rave reviews. The technology promises 360 degree, full motion, integration with games and virtual entertainment. A lightweight headset and independent optics for each eye gives a full 110 degree peripheral view and tracks your head movements. Developer kits are expected to ship by mid year.

Pebble

The clever Bluetooth enabled Pebble wrist watch connects to your smartphone to announce calls and interface with your iPhone and Android apps, and yes, it tells time too. A very handy device when your phone is buried in your purse or pocket, it will deliver notifications for your Gmail, Facebook, and Twitter accounts over its e-Paper 144 x 168 display. Created by independent hardware developers through funding on Kickstarter, the Pebble watch is poised to revolutionize how we think of our time pieces.

Lenovo ThinkPad Helix

It looks like Lenovo got it right this time with the ThinkPad Helix unveiled at CES. It's a tablet/laptop hybrid running Windows 8 and sporting a Core i7 processor and a 256Gb SSD. The 11" 1080p tablet display can mount on it's keyboard base as a standard laptop, or run independently as a tablet and touchscreen, or flipped backward on the base and run in a kiosk display mode. Weighing in a just 2 lbs, it's available with a spill resistant keyboard and 3G/4G antenna.

Samsung's UN85S9 4K "Easel" TV

Samsung has debuted it's gigantic 85", ultra pixel density, 'floating' TV with 4K resolution. The display is mounted on an easel which allows it to tilt up and down and leave clearance beneath it for speakers. The S9 is part of Samsung Smart TV line, offering a variety of connectivity options, such as Samsung SmartView technology which can stream content to and from Samsung mobile devices, and is rumored to incorporate Samsung's "smart" appliance technology to monitor and control home appliances via the Internet.

Sony Xperia Z

In an effort to re-establish itself in the smartphone market Sony has introduced the Xperia Z. With a 5-inch 1080p display, Quad Core 1.5Ghz processor, and 13 Megapixel camera, it is poised to be a serious contender. If that's not enough the Xperia Z boasts a fully waterproof shell, indeed at CES it was on display fully submerged. The phone runs the Android Jelly Bean OS and features Sony's One-Touch Connectivity technology for file sharing and easy data backup.

As jaw dropping as some of these new gadgets are, they may all be over shadowed by the expected release of Microsoft's Xbox 720 in mid 2013. Rumored to include Blu-ray support, 3D gaming, live video recording, an improved Kinect device to support augmented reality glasses, and a Quad Core processor, we may witness a whole new level in home entertainment in 2013.

G.I. Joe 2 Pushed Back to 2013 to Get 3D Treatment

Summer movie lineup in 2012 has lost one of its most anticipated titles. It has been reported that Paramount Pictures has decided to push back the release date for "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" from June 29 this year to March 29, 2013.

According to Deadline, the sudden decision was made in order to give the action movie a 3D treatment. "We're going to do a conscientious 3D job because we've seen how it can better box office internationally," explained the studio exec to the film site. "Jim Cameron did all of 'Titanic' 3D in post - and look how well that movie turned out."

Paramount seemingly made a right decision given that 3D format is more promising internationally with Russia and China building new 3D theaters this week. Though so, Hollywood is shocked over the postponement news since Paramount has been massively promoting "G.I. Joe 2" including making a Super Bowl ad earlier this year.

As for another reason why the high-octane movie gets delayed for nine months, it is said that the studio has learned from the blockbuster performance of "The Hunger Games" which proved that March can be a prime time to release big movies.

In "G.I. Joe 2", the Joe team must work together to fight against mercenary Zartan and his accomplices. Having the world leaders under his influence, Zartan launches attack towards innocent populace and has some new heavies on the payroll to keep G.I. Joe at bay.

The Jon M. Chu-directed action film brings back Channing Tatum, Ray Park and Lee Byung-hun as Duke, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow respectively. They will be joined by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Roadblock, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, Elodie Yung as Jinx and Bruce Willis as General Joseph Colton.
