The absolute for the weigh-in is set at 147 pounds, which should be an advantage to Pacquiao, because he is acclimated to angry at a added weight.

Pacquiao, who is 54-4-2, defeated Marquez (54-6-1) in their last fight via majority decision (114-114, 115-113, 116-112) on Nov. 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Their bout Saturday will be contested at welterweight, or no more than 147 pounds.

The two have met three times previously. Their first bout in 2004 ended in a draw with scores of 115-110 Marquez, 115-110 Pacquiao and 113-113. Their second bout in 2008 was also a split decision for Pacquiao with judges' scores of 115-112 Pacquiao, 115-112 Marquez and 114-113 Pacquiao. Their third and final fight in 2011 was a majority decision victory for Pacquiao with judges' scores of 114-114, 115-113 and 116-112.

Timothy Bradley shook the boxing world after a stunning split decision against Manny Pacquiao to win the WBO welterweight title.

Pacquiao appeared to dominate Bradley during the fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night, but the judges felt otherwise.

Two of the ringside judges had the fight 115-113 for Bradley while the other judge scored it 115-113 for Pacquiao.

After the judges' scores were announced, most of the sold-out crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas voiced its displeasure.

Bradley, a native of Cathedral City, California, remains unbeaten with 29 wins, along with one no-contest. Pacquiao suffered his first loss since 2005.

Some analysts believed Pacquiao would win the bout, given he was arguably the world's best pound-for-pound fighter. He was the first fighter to win world titles in eight weight classes, but none of that mattered Saturday.

The fight did not start until late Saturday because promoter Bob Arum did not want it to compete with Game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals between the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat. The Heat won 101-88 to advance to the NBA finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Now, the question is what Bradley's win or Pacquiao's loss will mean for boxing. After the bout, both announced they were interested in a rematch. Many fans have called for a potential showdown between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather is in a Nevada jail serving a three-month sentence for a domestic violence conviction.

Manny Pacquiao set to square off against Timothy Bradley

Manny Pacquiao will put his WBO welterweight title on the line Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, against Timothy Bradley.

In addition to being a congressman in his native Philippines, the 33-year-old Pacquiao is arguably the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. With a 54-3-2 professional record, he is the first fighter to win world titles in eight weight classes.

While Pacquiao enters the bout with plenty of fanfare, the 28-year-old Bradley has proven he's no slouch. The native of Cathedral City, just outside Palm Springs, California, boasts a perfect record -- 28 wins and zero losses, to go with one no-contest.

Bradley, the reigning WBO light welterweight champ, takes special pride in his work ethic, saying no one does more inside the ring and out.

Recently on "Face-Off," an HBO show helmed by CNN contributor Max Kellerman, Joel Diaz, Bradley's trainer, and Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's trainer, sparred over who works harder in the gym.

"I don't think there's anybody that trains harder than this guy," Diaz said.

"Manny will train harder than him, and that's why we'll win," Roach retorted.

Despite Bradley's undoubted desire and record, most pundits predict Pacquiao will win the bout handily. If he emerges victorious, it remains to be seen who his next opponent might be though, undoubtedly, the buzz likely will grow again about a potential showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Manny Pacquiao Denounces Anti Gay Allegations

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Manny Pacquiao says he loves and supports gays and lesbians, even though he does not approve of gay marriage.

The world champion boxer and Filipino congressman has been criticized ever since he gave an interview to the examiner.com website in which he opposed President Barack Obama's support for gay marriage.

Pacquiao said Wednesday in an interview with The Associated Press that he doesn't support gay marriage because of his Roman Catholic beliefs. But he says he has gay friends and relatives, and supports their rights.

The previous story contained a Bible passage calling for the death of "a man (who) lies with a man," and Pacquiao says many readers erroneously believed he had quoted that verse.

He says he had not.

Pacquiao was banned from filming a television show at a Hollywood shopping mall after the article appeared, and a petition appeared on change.org to persuade sponsor Nike to dump him.

He's Considering Retirement Floyd Mayweather Jr.

At the end of a tough, long night,Floyd Mayweather Jr.was left staring at a June 1 jail sentence and a boxing landscape that he seems to believe cannot deliver another quality opponent.

The unbeaten 35-year-old champion late Saturday said he's leaning "80-20" toward retirement.

"If it was my last fight, I gave them a bang," Mayweather (43-0) said after his unanimous-decision (118-110, 117-111, 117-111) triumph over Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto (37-3) at MGM Grand.

"There's really no one for me to fight anymore."

Well, there's Manny Pacquiao, but with the sides divided over money, ego and whatever else they can think up as leverage, who else is there?

The obvious backup to Pacquiao seemed to beMexico's21-year-old Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (40-0-1), who dominated Pomona's Shane Mosley by unanimous decision Saturday.

But Alvarez's promoter Richard Schaefer said after the fight he'd just booked the rising star and World Boxing Council super-welterweight champion to headline a Sept. 15 pay-per-view bout at MGM Grand.

With Mayweather's jail term on a domestic-violence conviction expected to stretch into August even with time reduced for good behavior that's not enough training days.

In addition, Schaefer introduced James Kirkland at the post-fight news conference, with Kirkland saying, "I would love to get that fight," versus Alvarez.

Alvarez is "interested" in fighting Kirkland, Schaefer said.

"I don't have to fight if I don't want to," Mayweather said. "They say to save the best for last, and if this was my last fight, it was a hell of a fight."

Mayweather's swollen face and nose proved that, after he and Cotto spent an hour Saturday exchanging punches in a bout that was more competitive than the scoring indicated.

Mayweather had high praise for his beaten foe's abilities, which shined most in a gritty eighth round that left the crowd cheering on its feet. He said Cotto fought hard, "but I wasn't going to succumb to that pressure."

On a possible Pacquiao fight, Mayweather said, "It's not going to happen."

Mayweather's point is that Pacquiao doesn't deserve a 50-50 split of revenues, because he contends the Mayweather brand generates more pay-per-view buys. Mayweather earned a record $32 million guarantee Saturday, and that figure will climb.

Mayweather also blames his ex-promoter and Pacquiao's current promoter, Bob Arum, for complicating the deal after Mayweather promised Pacquiao a $40 million guarantee months ago.

"It's not my fault," Mayweather said.

For now, Mayweather said he'll spend the rest of May visiting with friends and family, taking in his son's football games and daughter's gymnastics classes, with the June 1 jail date looming.

"When I go away, I'll jot down ideas for my company and my sport," he said.

"You cannot break Floyd Mayweather; you've got to know that from when I get hit with those shots in the ring. This is just small time, like training camp."
