Some Celebrities Age Badly, Some Do Not

There are actually a lot of stars who either aged badly. It's really unavoidable as they say, but at least some actually aged gracefully still look gorgeous even after several years in the industry.

So here I compiled a few list from some of the sites that listed the celebrities who aged badly:

Stars who age badly
Twenty Celebrities that have Aged Miserably
The 25 Worst Aging Actors in Hollywood

When you check the links I provided above, you will really be surprised. Some of the actors and actresses that were included in the list really looked great before but...the pictures will tell you what happened to them.

Why do some people suffer from terrible aging?

There are a lot of reasons that we can point out here - old age, unhealthy lifestyle, stress, etc. the list goes on and on. One thing is for sure here aging is really inevitable. What we can only do is slow it down and as the title says, "gracefully" age.

One interesting article from msnbc.com, mentions four habits that can accelerate aging by as much as 12 years. So this may not surprised you that much. The list includes smoking, drinking too much, inactivity, and poor diet.

Skin aging explained

Normally when we talk about aging, we refer to the extrinsic results - to the skin. Our view of aging is usually based on the features of the skin of a person. There is this process called Intrinsic Aging, which is commonly known as natural aging process. It's a continuous process that begins during our mid-20s.

The main reason why we experience changes in our skin as we grow old is the slowing down of collagen production in our skin. Collagen is the substance that enables skin regeneration. Once the aging process begins we experience the following:
  • fine wrinkles
  • thinner skin
  • loss of underlying fat that results in hollowed cheeks and eye sockets, and loss of firmness of hands and neck
  • hair loss
  • and many more
Of course, there are different symptoms for men and women. One of the common problems for women is excessive weight gain. Recently there is one cure to the problems related with aging. This is regenerative medicine.

One celebrity who also experienced aging problems shares her own story.

The case of Hofit Golan

Hofit Golan, a famous celebrity appearing in several TV shows, is same with any of us. She also experienced several problems associated with aging.

She recalls, "For as long as I can remember, my hands and feet have always been freezing cold to the touch. Growing up, I remember how everyone would say to me, 'you're hands are freezing!' Of course, every doctor I went to always told me the same thing, that it was the result low blood pressure…take iron...but it never helped. Another thing is my cravings. I love and crave salty food and right after I want sweets . I am also an insomniac....it takes me ages to fall asleep..I simply got too much energy at night. Worst of all I recently have been dealing with a leg injury as a result of a drunk man knocking me over and breaking my foot, ripping 3 ligaments. This injury was severe. Doctors told me that my symptoms were a result of my rigorous travel routine, stress, and always being "on the go". That hardly helped."

Good thing she tried regenerative medicine at the American Longevity Center. And now she is still gorgeous and full of life. For you out there, its not yet too late to try hormone therapy.

From Elixir of Life to Modern Longevity Methods

Humans have always been fascinated by the fountain of life. Of staying younger for a lot of years. That's why it is no wonder that there are many health and fitness centers that offer several remedies to the problems related to old age and to unhealthy lifestyle.

The search for the philosopher's stone or the elixir of life has led us to experiment with different substances, often causing problems rather than relief. With the goal of getting immortality, the ancient people tried a lot of formula and substances. Most of these substances were toxic.

In search of the elixir of life

It's also called the philosopher's stone. Basically it was thought to extend life and bring immortality. However, it was not the real case. The bad thing about the attempt of the ancient people was that most of the materials that they used caused them death rather than longer life.

The last couple hundred years

According to a study by experts from Harvard University, human life expectancy drastically increased in the last 200 years. The most drastic increased occurred starting the 1950s. There are several factors that were attributed to this but the two most prominent are regenerative medicine and replacement surgery.

Globally-speaking, there is an increasing life expectancy average. According to data.worldbank.org, "Life expectancy at birth indicates the number of years a newborn infant would live if prevailing patterns of mortality at the time of its birth were to stay the same throughout its life." They compute all of these based on the Gompertz Makeham Law of Mortality.

Basically, there is an increasing life expectancy trend from 2002 to 2011, as shown in the graph.

The medical advancements extends our average life expectancy?

Our generation is so lucky to have the latest technology that made our life easier. Because of the practical use of advancements we were able to live longer as compared to the previous generations, generally-speaking.

The drop in the mortality rate is one indication of this effect of technology in the well- being of humans. More so, medicine is getting more advanced that we already have remedies and cures for diseases that we thought were impossible to cure.

This is a common sentiment that we often read or hear somewhere. However, there are some issues with regard to the validity of this claim. Some actually claim that this is not the real case and human mortality is statistically flawed. The giant pharmaceutical companies only use this to advance their agenda.

The modern longevity methods - the elixir of life

One of the current procedures in improving health is hormone therapy. This is based on the premise that as we grow older, we do not produce as much hormones compared to when we were younger. Hormone imbalance often results in depression, loss of appetite for sex, fatigue, anxiety, hair loss, weight gain, and irregular sleep patterns. There are specific symptoms for men and women.

To cure these, hormone replacement is being promoted by some clinics. Of course, only board certified and qualified doctors practice this medical procedure.

Closing thoughts

Longevity has been always been a goal by the people. We want to live a longer vigorous life. We want to do more. It has been inherent for us to pursue these goals. And part of the current trend are health improving medical procedures.

Before we decide if we need these longevity procedures, check if it is safe. In the US one of the leading health centers is the American Longevity Center. One of their clients is Hofit Golan and she is really satisfied with the results of the treatments. It's like getting an elixir of life minus the immortality.
