Cold & Flu Season Got In The Way

The 2012 Cold & Flu Season has kept me MIA for a while now.  I wanted to do a quick post just in case you were wondering where I have been or if I am still alive. I'm alive, but not well, and have been in bed mostly.

It started with our little guy getting sick.  School has been the culprit. I was next. Generally, I take something at the onset of sickness. I've tried preparations like Emergen-C, Airborne, Zicam, and most recently Oscillococcinum.  It seems to have worked for me in the past but I was never quite sure if if was all in my head.  This time I didn't take anything early on because I didn't have any on hand.  Big mistake.  I am STILL sick. I am on the mend but it is still lingering.  I am never usually sick enough to miss work but this time my illness kept me at home in bed.  I missed 3 days of work.  I wasn't well enough to even WANT to be online. I did not touch my computer.  YES, too sick to prop myself up and crack open the laptop.  I have so much catch up work both at the office and as far as online projects.  We missed our Disneyland & Knott's Berry Farm trips since I was sick.  I hope that you all are staying healthy!

Cold & Flu Season | Get Well Little One

A rare sick day...
Is it cold & flu season already?! I haven't missed a single day at work due to personal illness since becoming Mommy a little over 2 years ago. I have miraculously become resistant to germs. Prior to becoming a mom, I used to catch every bug that would be floating around the office! NOT anymore! I have Mommy Super Powers now!  I think we all earn our capes and superpowers once we enter parenthood.  No time for mommy to be sick!

When our little one is under the weather, it just breaks my heart. Thankfully, our little guy rarely falls ill.  I am hoping for a speedy recovery.

Happy & Healthy!
Praying that this was the start and END of cold season for our little trooper!  He just started "school". It's a program for 24 to 36 month old children, he loves it! I think that is where he caught this bug that he has now. We are likely to miss his very first field trip to the Pumpkin Patch this Friday.  Hoping for the best.  Any mommy tips & tricks to keep the little ones comfy when they aren't feeling well? My trick is to hold him close - he can breathe easier and it's calming for both of us.

Stay healthy friends! I'm sending hugs to all of you that have been sneezed on, covered in baby snot, vomited on, and just so worn out with worry. Ironically it was just about this time last year that he suffered his first illness: Cold & Flu Season 2011.

Cold & Flu Season?

The Champ
Here is our tough little guy getting through his first cough/cold like a champ. He is smiling through it all. We are so lucky.  He is just over a year old and hasn't really ever been sick. Until now.  The first night he coughed so hard that he threw up. He HATED that and wanted to be held all night.  He is quickly on the mend and aside from a runny nose & a little coughing at night, he is the same cheerful little boy!  In this picture that his daddy took of him bundled up to go out to get some fresh air you can't tell he is sick boy.  As a child when I was sick, I was a fussy mess. NOT our boy.  I just hope & pray that I don't get sick.  I  am NOT a champ when I get sick.  I'm glad that our boy doesn't take after me in that sense! It's odd because I was a champ during labor & delivery - but with colds & flu, forget it.

I am hoping that you all escape cold & flu season this year!
